Anyone have a good experience / recommendation for a local area mover.
We will be moving from Clermont, which is about an hour away, to Bonita.
Thanks for your input

:coolsmiley:We had a local move into the villages of Spanish Springs last Dec. Found The Village Movers to be fairly priced and very professional.

Another TOTV'er used Village Movers and I believe she was very satisfied also.

We used Arthur Marting Moving to unpack our POD. They were on time, worked quick and were fairly priced.

Does anyone know what moving company can be trusted these days? I am becoming so discouraged trying to find a trustworthy company from MA to TV. The "black list" is full of the most frightening stories. I never realized how stressful selling/moving could be. Once we finally make it to TV, I don't ever want to do THIS again! geesh!
Anyone have any offers of help for us? We are to leave here on the 19th of June. HELP! :cryin2:

We are moving to the Villages this Summer. Our plan is to rent a big van and hire a trusted friend to drive it to FL We will pay for gas and tolls and pay the driver a real good weeks pay to drive to FL and after delivery we will put him on a plane and send him home. The cost for this will be much less than a moving company that we couldn't trust. We figure in the range of 1300 dollars.

Call the TV main number - ask for relocation. They have movers they negotiate with and recommend.

Thank you for this option to consider. I am very grateful.

Hi! Thank you. I will see what TV relocation has to offer. I didn't think I was able to use relocation because we didn't use their real estate agent. I was under the impression that it was a "package" deal. Glad to know it might still be an option. Much appreciation! You may have just given me my first full night of sleep in 2 weeks.
Bless you!

We talked with TV about movers last November when we thought we were about to move to TV. We were told that they would give us some names of moving companies that they would recommend, but that the discounted rates were reserved for those who used them for a Realtor referral as well. We did follow up with their recommended movers but they were quite expensive.
We looked into UPACK ( http://www.upack.com/ ) - something like PODs but they drop off a full tractor trailer and you arrange to have it packed then they come back with the cab and take it away. You don't get as long to pack as with a POD, but you only pay for the number of feet on the trailer that you use. Their quote was considerably better than a full service company (less than half), but you need to arrange for loading and unloading. Someone here on TOTV had recommended them.

Unfortunately, it is a package deal for the discount. However, the movers we had were wonderful - both in Conn and TV as well as the back office guys that pulled everything together. We used Atlas.
NJ Blue says they were really expensive without the discount and that may be the case. The only thing I have to compare that with is we are also having some appliances (big) from a separate location moved for us. With the discount this would cost us less than half of the cost quoted by FedEx, about half of a shipper my husband had connections with and about 2/3 of the rate my daughter can get (she is in the logistics business).
We were also moving some things from SC (can you tell this is the move of the century). I looked into a POD. The cost for the smallest POD with NO furniture and going only 2/3 of the distance cost over 1/3 of what the movers charged us to pack, move, store, re-pack, move and unpack the contents of a 7 room house.
Good luck - it is such a headache - but will be worth it when you get to TV.
