Just brought Beautyrest, ( we like the individual coil design) compared to our old one it's very firm. I think they have three levels. Kings start at 800 go up to 1800 or so depending on sales. I would go and lay on some (all brands in your price range) at showrooms then shop sales. At time we brought Sears was good price for us. They delievered and took the old one for fee. Nearest Sears showroom for mattresses are at Clermont.

Select Comfort Sleep number. We've been sleeping on one for over 15 years and wouldn't buy any other. How can you go wrong with adjusting a mattress to your comfort. Baffles me how people don't get it There's a Select Comfort store across from the Target Plaza on 441.

We purchased from the Original Mattress Factory, Bichara Blvd, Spanish Springs Ortopedic Extra Firm (the firmest) about 6 months ago. Couldn't be happier! Recently purchased a second mattress from them just like the first

My vote is for Select Comfort too. I keep mine set at 100, all the way up. I know of no other mattress with that capability. I also did not get the memory foam topper, it hurts my back too. I have the pillow top.

Select comfort is also known as "Sleep Number". The new store on 441 is beautiful. You can go test them out. Dial up or down on the firmness. There is no batting, fiber fill, coils, springs so they last much longer than traditional mattresses.
We love ours. I've never met anyone who owned one who was unhappy. Best sleep ever!! We have the Ca split King so hubby and I can have our own comfort setting. We also went for the adjustable frame. Stops the "snore wars" and allows us each to have exactly the bed we want!
Check them out!!

Today we visited the Mattress Factory to buy an Orthopedic Firm mattress.
Thanks for the recommendation Pleegasser.
The salesman was extremely knowledgeable and didn't try to upsell us.

we had a super firm ,flippable mattress for the original mattress factory, great product--BUT, being a king we could not lift it to make the bed
Got a sleep # version from Relax-In-Comfort on Canal St--great service dual controls--a breeze to make the bed--air has zero weight

We have never met so you can still say you have not met anyone that didn’t like the sleep number. However, I found the sleep number bed to be horrible. I hated it so much I threw out the bed along with the $2k it cost me, that was an expensive lesson. Never again.
IMO, nothing beats independent coil construction.

I agree. The mattress was too hot.

OK, I really like a firm mattress, I am now using 3 inch memory foam (firm) on 1/2 inch plywood over the existing mattress, has done wonders for my back and knee. Cost, $180 for the king size foam, and $20 for the plywood.

In our northern home we have a tempurpedic, split King adjustable bed with all the bells and whistles. It cost a small fortune, and for me, it runs hot, although I love the firmness. We were not willing to spend that kind of money again, so we took a chance and bought a split King adjustable base with the massage feature, from Costco online, and ordered 2 twin xl memory foam mattresses from Amazon. Amazingly, for about 25% of the cost of our northern bed, we have something as good, mayby better. Not hot! Risk free since both Costco and amazon offered free returns if we weren't satisfied. My advice? Shop around and try everything!

We bought a Beautyrest Grady Firm from Sears online. It is a very firm, inexpensive tightop mattress. I have had no back or hip pain since sleeping on it.

I had a good experience with Casper. Its quite firm (especially if used without a box spring,e.g. on a platform bed). Plus you get 100 nights to try it out and if you don't like it, they come and pick it up and refund every penny. A king is $950 (though you can get $50 off using a discount code from many popular podcast and radio hosts). See it at casper.com.

We bought our mattress at Original Mattress too about 4 months ago. My wife & I both have had back surgeries. We bought the pillow top luxury firm, and it has sunken down 1". We had them come out to check it for defects, and was told it has to drop 1 1/2" to be defective. They did say they would take the mattress back, and we could purchase the less expensive non pillowtop king luxury firm for around $275.00 as they donate any returned mattress. We have no problem with that policy. The extra firm mattress you bought was it a non pillowtop? We are thinking about paying the cost of not picking a firm enough mattress. Thank you in advance for your thoughts on this matter.
