DK,

I have only recently heard about iPhone apps. So I have a lot of questions......

What is that first one on your list here? (It was #42 on your original if I counted right.)

Are people going to have to use iPhones for DIY colonoscopies under the new health care plan?

I have 149 apps! I kid you not! And you can only display 125 (I found out) so I keep switching them around! My iPhone can do everything but wee wee for me and I think they're working on an app for that!

(It would be a time saver!)

TH,

About those apps.......

Yours are sending mixed messages. "How to Make Your Wife Happy" and "100 Ways to Appeal to Young Babes"??? And, besides, TH, just so you know, there are not "100 Ways to Appeal to Young Babes." There is only one way. "How to Make a Million Dollars a Year" sounds like it addresses the issue.

But, TH, I really think you could probably make a million dollars a year if you know somebody who could write an app for you to market called "How to Taze Guys in Front of You for the Golf Course Restroom."

Actually, a recent article on appleinsider shows that Johnson & Johnson is coming out with a very small blood glucose monitor that plugs in to the charging port on the bottom of your iphone. it is very small, and records your blood glucose lever, tracks meals and levels, etc.

This will benefit iphone owners who are diabetic and do not want to carry around a blood glucose monitor and their iphone.

Here is a link to the article, with pictures, etc.

It doesn't surprise me Frank. You can already read MRI's or scans. (Ha! That is if you know how to read them!)

One of my most used apps is Find My Car! Hahaha! Now I wish they made "Find My Cart". Also, I love the voice dialing app. That's something I was really missing when the iPhones first came out. And I can't tell you how many times the "Birthday Candle" has come in handy. Crazy, but true.

Boomer, did you notice that BOTH men had fart apps. Say no more. We rest our case guys.

A really cool app is ColorSplash. You take your photo, it changes it to black and white and then you just rub across the part that you want to see color in. Makes for some very interesting "arty" photos. ;)

I'd switch to an iphone in a minute, since I've been a mac guy for years, but up north here, verizon rules. Nothing else comes close. Perhaps when I move down there....
So, I assume ATT works down there??

I remember reading when the iphone first came out Steve Jobs offered it to Verizon first....they turned it down. Oh well.......

I guess it all depends on the area. Coverage is not as good as Verizon but for me it seems to do the trick. I live 40 miles South of Nashville out in the country and I have full bars and 3G. Seems to work pretty well around here.

Anyone try geotagging with their iPhone camera?

You have got to be kidding me, how much memory do those things hold or you have to have a 500 gig external HD strapped to your belt? What is the battery life? Next time I get to Best Buy I might have to look at one but I can't imagin I would every buy one as I am not a gamer. I must be getting old.

My son is earning a living (sorta!) via his Iphone app. It is called Naked Light - and is NOT porn, but a way to enhance digital images. It has gotten rave reviews on apple sites - so if you are looking for something like that, please check it out and help a starving but talented art school grad.

Mine is the Gen2 16 gig model. I have as you can see 70+ apps, over 500 songs, 5 full length movies and about 100 photos on it. I still have 8gigs left.

Battery life really depends on how you use it and what you have turned on such as blue tooth, wifi, location services, screen brightness, etc. I have to charge mine every night.

The iPhone I think is one of the most amazing devices out today. Next to my 24-inch iMac of course.

One of the neat features of the iPhone is it's geotagging capability. Although the phone's camera isn't the best out there it does a respectable job if you have enough light.

If you turn location services on, the iPhone's GPS will tag the photo with the exact GPS concordance where it was taken. Then you can upload the photo to SmugMug, Flickr, etc, and you will be able to see on a map exactly where the photos were taken along with a thumbnail of the photo. Kinda cool.

DK thanks for the info. I have never been an Apple / Mac fan but I did put together an IIE clone years ago. Not being a gamer would leave more room for music but I would have to reduce the 30 gig Pink Floyd collection down a tune or two.

To me the one of the most amazing devices for the common man is the GPS. The technology behind the device is fairly simple in theory but then it is put into a device that fits in the palm of your hand still blows my mind. Here is a hand held device that can tell within feet where you are anywhere in the world. Now add to that what has been done with that technology by adding it to cell phones, automotive navigation units, golf course locator's, and the list goes on and on. Amazing technology.

A 16 gig iPhone will hold over 3000 songs. I don't think Pink Floyd had quite that many. Once on the device, the format is a little different than what's burned directly from a CD.

My Pink Floyd collection is 30.9 gig and contains over 3800 tunes, outakes, live concerts, bootleges BBC sessions, and studio recordings. Yes I am a PF junkie. On my last trips to TV I loaded up my GPS that will play MP3's through the car radio with the Oh By The Way 16 CD set and off I went. Nothing better that doing a non stop drive to TV listening to PF at 3 or 4 in the morning. Sure makes the 17 hour drive fly by.

What are the best games for the iPhone? I was thinking about buying a Nintendo DS for the "brain games" but wonder if the iPhone has anything similar.
