I am sure everyone is breathing a sigh of relief now that he is in custody and I imagine there will be more arrests. If you see something say something worked today and all Law Enforcement agencies worked like clockwork together.

Congratulations to all.

He has rights, But he is a terrorist. Do the type of justice they would use in the mid east. He lost all his rights.

He lost all his rights.

Not in the great country I live in. :ohdear:

While I hope they have caught the person responsible, the authorities can prove it and he never sees the light of day for the rest of his life (along with any accomplices)...he still has 'rights.'

Any less and we're no better than those countries ruled by dictators/despots...that decent American citizens view as so abominable.

I remember the towers and I am feeling more like gnashing my teeth than those who are thinking fairness.

At this point I am on the side of profiling and locking all doors to potential trouble like this.

But that is because I am not a young idealist anymore.

I was once.

I believe this bears repeating, considering some folks may want to forget or ignore...that we have a Constitution and the first ten amendments to it. :ohdear:

If I were the Gov of NY or NJ I would contact the local Mob Bosses and give them a free hand to clean things up in the area. No questions asked.

$5,000,000 bail; don't think he'll be out in a couple of hours (unless he was here in The Villages; the "slap on the wrist" probation happy judges probably would let him out on his own recognizance).

Dang. You are right and I must apologize for thinking your spelling was in error, but I still am far more adamant against the nasty terrorists than you seem to be. I really do want all people entering this country as refugees to be carefully, CAREFULLY vetted because folks who hate us can and do slip in.

What I've been saying for a loooooooooong time; I interact with people, play golf with them, go to driveway parties with them, but do I trust anyone besides my family? Nope. Do a search for the song "Smiling Faces" by The Undecided Truth and you'll understand why.

Even though a lot of people think we live in Mayberry, and I don't believe you think that, they need to read the online news and rediscover that there are violent people that live amongst us and my wife and I refuse to be victims.

I loathe ALL terrorists and mass murderers, such as Timothy McVeigh, Robert Hansen, Adam Lanza, etc., etc.

Guess what those three have in common?

I just don't choose to only loathe the ones from a particular religion.

But, apparently I am much more concerned about our Constitution and Bill of Rights than some folks...when dealing with them.

I am more concerned with Muslim extremists because there are more occasions to be concerned about them.

And we are at war with them.

The 'extremists' and 'hate groups' yes, we should all be concerned with those...both domestic and abroad.

I'm not sure why this guy isn't guilty of treason, since he attacked the US in support of our enemy. Maybe because we haven't officially declared war? Anyway, the death penalty seems appropriate as it is clear he is "irredeemable".

Just when it was getting good. With all the high flying human rights rhetoric from all kinds of well meaning people, who among us didn't think of Islamic Terrorism when we read a bomb went off in Manhattan?

I thought so.

The SPLC monitors hate groups and other extremists throughout the United States and exposes their activities to the public, the media and law enforcement.

I do understand however, that doing so...is not everyone's cup of tea.

Who did you first think of when you heard about the bombing in Manhattan? Did you think it was an ultra conservative Baptist group?

Me either.

I don't jump to conclusions...I wait for facts to emerge.

Just as when 19 poor, innocent children were killed...in Oklahoma City. :(

You shoot at police, two officers hit, no need for a trial. The only reason to keep this person alive is to see if he has intel of any value.

My opinion is harsh, yes, illegal, yes, but just how I feel... I will ask for forgiveness Sunday.

.

I believe the culprit is a US citizen and therefore has all the same Constitutional rights as you or me. He came to the US at age 9.

However, when someone of Afghani or Pakistani origin goes to one of those troublesome countries for an extended time, they should be on a watch list for some time period after returning to the US. That would seem to make sense.

So, I guess that is a form of profiling and I am for it.

On Sunday I visited the Murrah Memorial and Museum in Okla City. It is a very emotional experience that is beautifully presented. The block-long street in front of the building, where McVeigh parked the Ryder truck, has been removed and in its place is a reflecting pool. On a berm along side the pool sit 168 empty stone chairs of the victims placed in order by the floor on which they died. Most of the children perished on the 2nd floor.

It's a shame how much our lives have negatively changed since these terror attacks started, and if we can't figure out how to find the radicals before they act, memorials in many cities across the USA will have to be erected.

Like in Boston when the two Brothers planted bombs that blew limbs off of 87 people and killed the little grandson of a fellow Villager. His sister lost her leg.

San Bernardino. Boston. Orlando. Chattanooga, beheading in Moore, OK. I ask again. When you heard there was a bombing in Manhattan, did you think it was caused by a group of nuns?

Me either.

Here's the list of terror attacks.

I believe in the constitution.

I also believe we are at war with terrorists.

Regarding the bomber, there is sufficient evidence to consider him an enemy combatant and US citizen or not, he is not entitled to the protection of the constitution.

So far they have not read him his rights, which a US citizen is entitled to have. As an enemy combatant, the rights are not to be read.

He is an enemy combatant who so far being uncooperative and may well have information leading to more threats to folks like us, folks like our family members, folks like our friends......no lawyering up....he is the enemy!!

I think it's a left wing organization that unfairly labels conservative and traditional religious groups as hate groups and extremists.

While totally untrue, you are still of course... entitled to your opinion.
