Does anyone have a good list of things to remember to do before heading north? Things like turn off the hot water heater, etc. Thanks.

Yes , I have one , but sorry I won't give it to you .
My wife made this one up for me to do and its about
four feet long.
Frankly I'm not going to go along with it because of
some of the stupid things she has on there .....

Besides I am not going to shoot all those little gecko's...

I walk the line...... ... Fumar , man in black ..:beer3:

Have a list on a clipboard in TV but here is Ohio now. Lets see what I can remember!

1. Turn water heater to Vacation mode.
2. Turn off water to house
3. Put saran wrap over toliets
4. Lock doors and windows. Put rods in sliding door. Lock lanai
5. Pour a capfull of cooking oil in garbage disposal and turn on for 2 secs.
6. Clean out fridge.
7. Open all closets and dishwasher
8. Put trash out
9. Set air conditioner and/or heat
10. Unplug TV's, computer, clocks, radios, cable
11. Pull all drain stoppers up to keep critters out.
12. Put garage door in lock position
13. Make sure cart charger is unplugged and not charging cart
14. Check that sprinklers are set correctly
15. Change filters

All I can think of right now. Will keep thinking!

Worth considering. Give a key to a neighbor or a friend that the neighbors know has a key. We had a neighbor last year whose house was struck by lightning which as it turned out had only minor damage. They were gone and the firemen wanted to check the attic and no key. They had to break in thru the lanai door to be sure there was no fire in the attic.

Thanks for the info. I would never have thought of half of the things on that list. Karen

Ok, I could guess but I'd rather hear it. Why put saran wrap over the toilets????

Yoda, It helps keep the water from evaporating in the bowls and traps! At least that is what they told me!

Ohhhhh! I was thinking of little critters! Centipedes and such. Glad I always keep the lid shut. Will start turning the light on when I go at night!:yuck:

16. Turn off the icemaker.

I also put a little clorox in the bowl after the last flush. You will prevent mildew from forming on the underside of the seat by putting saran wrap over the bowl and under the seat.

Hire someone to check your home weekly. It's low cost and piece of mind. I use redwitch from this site and she does a great job at a reasonable price. Flushes the toilets, checks the inside and outside, makes sure the lawn is getting attention, if we order something for there to be delivered she puts it inside. So good value and worth doing.
