Yesterday morning approximately 8:30 AM my wife noticed we did not have any water service. In only minutes water service was restored. Now for the unbelievable. Around 10:30 AM crews were seen placing signs advising thousands of residents to boil their water. I would think that within the three hour lapse, nearly every household had already used the possibly contaminated water. Around noon we did receive ( 3 1/2 hours later) an E Mail advising us not to use the water for showering, brushing teeth, washing hands etc... In my opinion, this is 100% unacceptable !!! Especially when the Sheriff's office has capabilities to immediately issue Amber Alerts etc. by phone !!!

Clearly a case where "better late than never" does not apply

How did you get a phone call. I live in Santiago and have not heard of anyone else getting a call. Was it from a neighbor? or who was it that called you?

Who from??????

I don't know. They came from an 800 #. They were all the same recorded message.

I'll go out on a limb and say maybe ask the water company. Number is on the bill, the District web site, the phone book, etc.

District Utility Customer Service, 352.750.0000.

Today's Daily Sun says you can call from 8 AM to 5 PM or Water Plant Operator at 352.753.1756, after hours or on weekends.

Don't you think it took awhile to evaluate who would be affected? Most cities I lived in it took time upwards to hour just to get on site and get the water turned off and maybe hours later you may get have water restored.

Not an Amber alert.

Do you agree that it is correct to put out an Amber Alert when a senior walks away from home but not for an issue where thousands of residents are put at risk ??

Would be nice if we had some kind of an update on the water situation. Some of my neighbors did not get any calls or emails and still do not know if they can utilize the water.

I am not in that immediate area, but got an alarm on my phone about the water issue, similar to a tornado warning. I believe it was from the Code Red app. If you don't have it, you should. It is for weather, community alerts, missing persons and more. You can select which warnings you want to get.

I have lived here 10 years and without exaggeration there have been more water main breaks and more power outages here than all the combined years previous to my move to TV.

The good news is that the utilities seem on top of things and generally have shorter restoration periods. community Watch is quite helpful. Perhaps it all has to do with growing pangs

Joe, was it Customer Service that called you?

On second thought, probable not as that was the number in The Daily Sun to call. I received another call saying the boil water notice has been rescinded today at 1:19 PM, from 866.419.5000.
