We own a home in the Villages. But we do not reside there full time. Our 27 year old daughter may be getting a job in the close proximity of our house. Are there any rules preventing her from living there even though we are not there full time?

27 y/o - no rules. Under 19 - one rule - not allowed! The other thing is that she may not be able to get a Resident ID Card, Entrance Gate Pass, etc. which can be a hassle. To get that stuff, you have to (a) be on the deed to the property or (b) prove permanent Florida residency by a Florida drivers license or Florida ID Card (for non-drivers) or (c) be a renter which would require you to give up your TV ID Card.

That's right...but if you choose B then she also needs her voter registration card and some sort of utility bill showing or bank account with the house address on it...

Cassie325 and Bryan thanks for your response. I think b would be the easiest answer and I don't see a problem meeting any of those requirements. Thanks for ur responses.

My 24 year old sone lives in my house. I visit when I can. He has an ID and full use of the amenities. He needed the FL Driver's license, utility bill, and a change of address card that the post office sends out. A voter registration card could have substituted for the change of address card. I also had to "sponsor" him. If you go to the customer service for VCDD on 466 at the east end of southern trace you can walk out with a card.

Was the utility bill in his name?

It would be great if we could get all our children to meet...We should have a thread just for them..Introduce them to eachother...

Good idea???

As it worked out, yes. He's a junior. The utility bill s one of the items that can prove residency. Since he's here, and I am only a visitor, he's paying for DirectTV so that bill is in his name anyway.

what happened the TV being a retirement community? That's what I bought into.

Only required to have 80% over 55 - common to most retirement developments.

That 80% is not total residents but deed owners - I think.

In other words if every owner was over 55 and everyone had an adult child with them it would still be OK. At least legally speaking.

It's a bit misleading to advertise, market and promote a "retirement community"and then encourage college kids to reside there.

Where is TV encouraging college kids to reside here? Non-issue in my opinion.

Seniors tend to "call it a night" earlier, at least in our case. What happens if a college student decides to invite his frat buddies or just friends over for a get together or barbecue at his "home". The noise level could possibly (not always) disturb some of the neighbors..........ditto for using the pools. Obviously, many college folks are busy studying......or should be.

While I have decided not to respond to the rest of your post, as I have been down this road TOO many times before...LOL....

I have to tell you that I am not sure you quite understand TV's if you think the younger generations stay up later. Some of these so called "Seniors" stay up way past my bed time...I can't keep up with most of my friends that are 10,20, 30 years my senior. They are out dancing the night away, after a full day of activities....This is too funny in my opinion!!

There are a bunch of members of TOTV that are CRAZY dancers....and love to party the night away, whether that is a small group of friends or a large group....they party all night....well at least way past my bedtime of 9pm....if I can make it that late!

Sr Citizen.
I can't figure out where you are coming from, maybe its the information overload.
Do you think you are coming to TV. I think a lifestyle visit would help a lot. Then you can challenge/question what you are seeing.

Hi Senior,

I responded to one of your posts on another thread. I would like to say again that TV is for many (including the former cheerleaders and football stars as well as nerdy nose-in-a-book girls like I was). A community this size allows for diversity. I have seen some at the squares dance to song after song. Others are content to sit and listen. Some hold hands. Others like the vendors on market night. Some do all of these on different days.

That said, TV is not for everyone. We New Englanders can be reserved at first - and there are lots of us in TV. I think you can learn a lot from this forum - but if you can, a LifeStyles visit really helps you get an idea of what TV is all about. The sales folks are not at all pushy - at least those that I have met at open houses and the ones we worked with.

I think that you want to be sure that you are being objective and thus are pulling on the negative side to counter all the positive comments you hear on this site. Keep in mind that most who TV did not work out for are not here, so the board is bound to be weighted towards those who really like the place.

Many who comment on this site aren't the cheerleader type - they just want to enjoy their retirement years with kind people and activities to keep their minds sharp and their bodies healthy.
