Sometimes texts that I try to send from my iPad are not delivered. I retype the texts on my iPhone and the texts are delivered. I know one of the people that I send the texts to has a Samsung phone.

Is there a setting I can change on my iPad so I can send them texts from my iPad. I have a keyboard for my iPad and it is so much easier to type messages.

Send text messages from iPad: iMessage
The Messages app on an iPad is limited, because it can only send iMessages. These are better than SMS messages (because they’re completely free) but also worse (because you can only send them to other people on iMessage - which is to say, other iPad, iPhone and iPod touch users).

The Messages app will attempt to send an iMessage first, if that fails, it will send as a standard text (SMS).

Are you connected to Wifi while attempting to send?

Yes, I am connected to the Wifi when sending texts.

The reason is if your friend doesn't have iPhone you need to be on cellular to send message you can't via wifi only.

Aah, that explains it! I used to be able to text these two people without a problem. But, I used to pay for cellular data every month! Now, I only activate cellular data when I am on long road trips.

I love it when fellow villagers help out other fellow villagers! I do not have apple equipment, so I was not able to provide assistance, thanks to all who helped.

I had the same problem when trying to send a text from my iPad but then discovered that I had texted to the email address instead of to the phone number. Check and see if that was the case.

Thats not the case. Using iMessage, you can send texts to anyone on an iPad when on Wi-Fi, regardless of the phone they have.

If you also have an Iphone you can link them to be able to do so. Try the following if you have both:

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Add a check to both your phone number and email address.

Then go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and enable the device or devices that you want to forward messages to.
Look for a code on the Mac, iPad, or iPod touch that you enabled. Then enter this verification code on your iPhone.

Correct, as the OP said she also has an iPhone.
