DOLLARS FOR SCHOLARS is a chapter affiliate of SCHOLARSHIP AMERICA, a nationally-recognized, nonprofit student and service organization. The mission of The Villages Dollars for Scholars is to provide scholarships and academic support to the students of the surrounding community. Our vision is that every student in Sumter, Lake and Marion Counties will be able to attain post-secondary education. The Villages Dollars for Scholars has made a significant impact on the students of the surrounding community.
Last May, its first year in existence, this agency raised over $12,000 and distributed 15 scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,000 to the graduating students of Wildwood High School. In addition it gave two $750 scholarships to students of The Villages High School.
Now in its second year, Dollars for Scholars is looking forward to the SECOND ANNUAL FILM SHOWCASE, its signature event, to far exceed its former achievement. All money raised at this event will provide scholarships to the students of a local High School to further their education.
