View Full Version : Why I'm Leaving

Today I came across this forum, thinking it might be a good place for some intelligent discussion of the extremely important issues that face us as we prepare to vote for president. Instead, all I see is angry, childish, insulting posts with no coherent arguments one way or another. Does anyone really believe name calling and vulgarity is a good way to present one’s case? Differences of opinion are what makes America great. Belittling those with differing views does nothing but to invite belittling responses. I always felt that we Villagers were a fairly intelligent lot, but I guess I was wrong.
So I am leaving this forum. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of criticism and cynicism from many of you. For the sake of our nation, grow up!

You're not wrong. I agree 100%. I hope you just mean you're leaving the political forum...not ToTV. It's not that easy, but the children on the political forum can be avoided if you try hard enough. :)

Not leaving TOTV. I'll just stick with the grownups. Thanks.

Maybe you should stay and continue to post intelligent comments in a respectful tone. This forum needs more of us to lead by example

I've been doing that only to be responded to by the usual abuse. Even without expressing an opinion, somebody jumps on you with moronic venomous tirades. Maybe this is why we end up with such unsavory candidates for presidents.

Nothing about politicans is palatable. This is why we need to clean house.
When a career politician running for president tells her click that what she tells the public is a lie, I don't blame you.

So the rebellious, antagonistic, disrespectful, name calling few tar the entire political forum.
And by your leaving they win another one.
These are the very same folks who caused the original forum to eventually be closed down.
The new format's most serious flaws are the guest amonymity and the inability to use the other tools of TOTV.
One of the most used by many of us was the ignore list. Worked like a charm.
Now we just have to read a little more to do two things stop when it is obvious it is their crap.
Second by all means do not engage.
That is another failing of the guest identity. If no one engages them they do themselves to give the apperance of activity. That too has become easy to spot.
Your leaving gives them bragging rights to winning another one and the majority loses another one.

I believe that some are bit over dramatic and sensitive to those that oppose their view. You can not be PC and still have a realistic debate. Someone is going to get heated and angry. That's life everywhere in the world. Do you really want a world where your speech is controlled and censured? Do you really want the moderator to ban folks from here if you find something they said to be offensive? That's not the American way.
The other day, a neighbor mentioned the ugly politics going on this year. She is a Democrat. She is for Hillary. It was everything my wife and I could do not to get baited into a debate with her because we enjoy her company. Manners prohibited me from expounding on Hillary's atrocities that she has perpetrated. We decided NOT to discuss politics with friends because they have a tendency to take it as a personal affront if we do not agree with them.
This is a great forum for openly discussing your feelings regarding the political circus. If you don't like someone disagreeing with you, then this is not the forum for you. If you take anything personal and lose sleep over something someone says on here, then this is not the forum for you. This is not a safe zone or politics free zone. This is a no holds barred political debate where a lot of good information is mixed with a lot of personal frustrations. This is good for many people, a place to get it all out. It's therapeutic as well as informative. Politics is serious when it comes to the future of America. If one cannot handle anyone adamantly disagreeing with them, then a political forum is not for them. Taking something personal on an anonymous forum is kind of ludicrous. These people do not hate you. They hate the way America is headed. They hate the inability to stop a runaway train. It's certainly not a personal attack, even if some are so frustrated that they strike out personally.
Either participate in an effort to add your insight to the situation, or bow out. I do not understand why anyone would find the need to announce that they are leaving the forum because someone else did not conform to their idea of order and decorum. It is what it is. Why would anyone want something shut down based on people not agreeing with them and/or being a bit rude to their anonymous comment?
There are plenty of other political forums that are probably more suitable to your standards and decorum. Thanks for participating here, for the time you did.

Liberals have nothing to defend their position, THAT is why they NEED the opposition silenced. When your entire position is based on lies...you can't have people discussing it honestly.
I understand liberal thinking...it's the way it SHOULD be...I get that. But it's nothing more than a dream. The REALITY is...we're NOT all equal with equal abilities.

I simply do not know but having recently retired we have far more time to pay attention to politics.
It is not just in the Villages. It is not just politics. I see this sort of infantile THIRD GRADE LEVEL, posts all over the internet.
To be frank, I had blamed Obama for this current state of divisiveness. UNFORTUNATELY, I now realized that Obama merely hitched his wagon to the LOW LEVEL that American people have sunk to.
In the upcoming election we will be electing either TRUMP or the CLINTON GANG-neither choice is inspirational.
Neither shows any indication that they have, even a goal, of bringing the American people TOGETHER to solve our problems. Mccaine said we have a lot of problems BUT, AMERICANS ARE UP TO THE TASK. The American voters, 56% of them voted for OBAMA-THE CANDYMAN. SADLY AMERICANS PROVED THEY ARE NOT UP TO THE TASK, THEY VOTED NOT FOR WORK BUT FOR YOU O MEEEEE, GIMMMMMEEEEEEEE. Now we have worse problems then pre-Obama. Clearly we have a seriously divided populace and if it is not difficult enough WE HAVE OBAMA'S TEN TRILLION DOLLAR ADDITION TO THE NATIONAL DEBT and we have no impressive presidential choice offered by either party..

I do wonder how you can live in THE VILLAGES and talk about dreamland. You and we have elected to live in what I describe as Disneyland for seniors. There is little here that is REALWORLD.
I spent my life till now in the realworld we had had enough of it and so we move to the LIE that is The Villages.
AS TO HONESTY-you do not seem to realize that when people look at the same thing they HONESTLY see things differently.

I really do think you could say the same thing about comparing a reirement life, where ever it is, to the work-a-day life.
To me it is all real world....as we each would make it in our golden years!

Well, like they say in the movies, if you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. The strong persevere and the weak run away. That's why this is all voluntary and anonymous. Refuse to get involved if you wish. Life's a b*tch and then you die.

Because to get minorities to "pass", they've had to lower the standards to just about the 3rd grade level...what do you expect when the standards have dropped by half? Intelligentsia? We've gone from #1 in everything to #23...because of diversity, because we've lowered the standards THAT much so they could "pass". We're killing ourselves with our kindness to them.
Yes, we ARE "low level" since over 100 million, 1/3 the population are immigrants themselves or the anchor babies. We're being OVERRUN by 3rd world, ignorant, 20 IQ point lower, different species, invaders. Whites are a minority right now...from age 6 down...whites are a minority of new school registrations.
So then...elect someone else. You hold that power in your hands. If we ALL said...ENOUGH...we could elect someone NOT affiliated with the KNOWN corruption of the Ds and Rs. ANYONE but a D or R.
Trying to "bring together" different species like we're doing now...IS the problem. It's like bringing together dogs and cats to solve the problem of...dogs and cats don't like each other. Seperation, exclusion ARE the solutions. It worked forever...until the 60s threw us all together in an unholy mix. An UNWANTED unholy mix.
I do wonder how you can live in THE VILLAGES and talk about dreamland. You and we have elected to live in what I describe as Disneyland for seniors. There is little here that is REALWORLD.

AS TO HONESTY-you do not seem to realize that when people look at the same thing they HONESTLY see things differently.
It's not a "dreamland"...it's a protected enclave. "We" built it and "we" maintain it. STOP trying to destroy it by "diversifying" it. When the blacks and Hispanics begin to come...the Villages will end as we've all known it. I see the slide already...more minorities seen around...more problems begin to rear their ugly head.
It's not a lie...it's a protected enclave that white people built for themselves. America WAS like the villages before the 60s. Many European countries WERE like the villages at one point. We COULD have "The Villages" everywhere if there were ONLY self motivated white people. They're NOT like us.
Unfortunately, people do see the same thing differently. One of them IS wrong.
Well, like they say in the movies, if you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. The strong persevere and the weak run away. That's why this is all voluntary and anonymous. Refuse to get involved if you wish. Life's a b*tch and then you die.
Not any more...not with government doing what it does now. It favors the weak over the strong and it actively hinders the "best" with affirmative action and quotas. Hope it's not YOU doctor who got there via a quota...HAD to have 12% representation no matter how stupid they are compared to the others.
I'm as "involved" in TRYING to fix this country as I can be. Now YOU need to listen, realize I'm right, and STOP this affirmative action/quota madness. Time to rise from #23 back to #1. You WON'T do it until you stop the equality meme. We're NOT equal and the proof is ANYWHERE you look on the entire planet.
We have 8X the population of just a few hundred years ago...MOST are 3rd world and VERY poor. The planet has been allowed to be "bred out of prosperity".
We're screwed unless something drastic is done.

Another thing the OP will probably not miss: The ridiculous amount of advertisement that has to load on every page and it takes forever. I know it pays the bills for the website, but for the love of god; there is a exercise video running at the bottom of the page...

Thank you Pollyanna. I stand corrected. I thought Truman was an actor, or was that Capote? Every time I see Tim Kaine I am reminded of W.C.Fields and can't get that image out of my mind.

Not many have them. Original thoughts can be dangerous and therefore not encouraged. Have you been in a classroom lately? PC garbage. Dumbed down PC garbage.

Capote was an author.
Pollyanna is a best-selling 1913 novel by Eleanor H. Porter that is now considered a classic of children's literature, with the title character's name becoming a popular term for someone with the same very optimistic outlook.

It is terrible the U.S. has come to this. No other country could possibly see us as a shining example, leader, etc. And it is "UNBELIEVABLE" the Human Race after THOUSANDS of years to evolve still is fascinated with ANYTHING with regards to SEX. Kardashians(Sex), Hip Hop Music(Sex), Politics (Sex), Movies, (Sex), Hollywood (Sex), Internet (Sex), Major News (Sex), etc. I mean apes are not as fascinated as we seem to be. They have sex to you know.
Side Note: John Kennedy, who is beloved makes Bill Clinton and Donald look like choir boys.
But is was kept private. Most everyone are hypocrites

You my friend are part of the problem. You want to put all Democrats into the same box. Many of the great men and women of our time were "liberal" by your definition. They dreamed of equal opportunities for all regardless of race religion or gender. Thank God for the dreamers of this world.
I know many card carrying Republicans who are liberal about some issues and very conservative about others. These same Republicans are dreamers too. I also know many card carrying democrats who are conservative about some issues and liberal about others. These same card carrying Republicans and Democrats support their parties with their money as well as their mouth. Usually, the brash ugly remarks are from those who only support their party with their mouths.
Dwight Eisenhower maybe said it best. "I despise people who go to the gutter on either the left or the right and hurl rocks at those in the center". OP, you and I are most likely one of those in the center.
