Hi,
We are planning a Lifestyle Tour in July of this year.
Has anyone taken one and is there anything we
need to know in advance? Is 3 days too short
to see everything?
Thanks for all your kind responses.

Hi Shelagh,
We did a Lifestyle Preview in October 2007, we were booked for three days but extended for three more. We needed more time to get a better idea of what the TV Lifestyle was really about and if it was right for us. We felt it was a good choice for us and did buy a home. Based on our visit and experience I would recommend a longer visit, there is just so much to see and do.

You will be amazed at how physically large TV (The Villages) is. We looked at online maps before we arrived (maps.google.com and maps.live.com), but we were amazed.
You can prepare for your visit by reading this forum and asking specific questions that are important to you.
Welcome and good luck.

I would recommend taking a six day lifestyle visit if you can. There really is a lot to do and see at the Villages. My wife and I were there for six days in July 2008 and we were busy the entire time we were there. We don't golf but we spent quite a bit of time checking out the two town squares (Lake Sumter Landing and Spanish Springs), viewing some model homes, touring a couple of recreation centers, visiting the Hospital and Wellness Center, eating at some of the restaurants and checking out some of the daily activities taking place.

I promise you'll want to stay as long as you can!
I'd recommend the six days-then you'll probably go back.
I know I can't wait to!

If this is your first time visitng TV, it will take you more than 3 days just to find your way around...by that I mean i guarantee you will get lost travelling to Spanish Springs, or learning how to navigate the round-a-bouts, what do they mean north or south of 466, etc. Use the golf cart they provide you and "get lost" trying to navigate the golf cart paths...thats part of the fun..... driving through some of the neighborhoods and seeing the landscaping, or seeing how you can use the cart to visit shopping centers, grocery store, resturants, and even medical care.
We recently had visitors and they told us they could not understand why we moved from Virginia to a "development" in FLorida..until they came here and realized that The Villages in not simply a development but it is a town in and by itself that cover 3 counties. I dont know where you are comming from, but if any distance is involved, suggest a minimum of 5 days ..take your time visiting open houses on your own, visit the town sqaures in the evening and talk to people who live here, or simply play golf or tennis, or hey...try this new game "Pickleball". And just think, you have not even scratched the surface on what The Villages has to offer.

Shelagh,
You got some good advice here. :agree: Also, since you are coming all the way from Vancouver (I think I read that in a prior post), 3 days is way too short for such a long flight.
If you are really looking to buy (now or later) I would spend a lot of time on TV website at the floor plans and virtual tours of the homes - new and resale. I would also try realtor.com under 32162 zip code to see the lisitngs not handled by TV.
Lastly, if you are unsure if you would like a "home" vs. a "villa" I would ask the lifestyles coordinator if you can split up your time between the two. It will be a bit of a hassle, but for us it really helped us decide.
Good luck,
Kate

Whenever we go to TV, we always check the recreation news to see if there is anything going on that we want to do. That way we can plan in advance and not miss something that we might want to do. You can check the rec news at this link: http://www.thevillagesdailysun.com/sections/#secD
Just click on the picture of the rec news and it will open a pdf file with this weeks edition. Once you get to TV, just visit one of the regional rec centers and pick up a hard copy. Have a blast!

Hello Shelagh
Three days is way to short to get the real feel and warmth of TV.
You will leave with a lot of questions but just ask here and you will get the answers.
