I appreciate the info. Resident (and prospective resident) activity has gone a long way in helping us prove to some retailers that there is a market here for them and we continue to use it to this day.
We work through the appropriate real estate channels with every tenant, Trader Joes included. Many don’t know about The Villages or understand it. If you have like-minded friends in The Villages I would encourage you or them to either do a petition drive or send letters to the president of Trader Joes. That has been an effective vehicle in the past because it is from their potential customers (and not someone like myself on staff whose job is to “sell” the assets of the community).
If it’s a petition, please forward on to me and I’ll use it in conversations with their real estate department.
Thanks,

Trader Joe's is opening up five (5) stores in Florida. I know one is in Miami and they are considering this area.

The reason that Trader Joe's hasn't opened a store south of Atlanta, GA is that they did not have a distribution center.

Now that, that has been resolved they will be opening more stores. Like I said, 5 in Florida.

I live on Cape Cod, south of the hub of the universe (Boston). Trader Joes is absolutely THE BEST.

YES, TJ is the best . . . . . They have 3 buck chuck and many other wine's at a very reasonable price. I recently purchased a 2004 vintage Syrah from Wildcat Mountain Vineyard. Only 36 Barrels were produced that year. Normally in a wine store it would cost around $40.00 Dollars per bottle, Trader Joe's price $19.00 I bought a case and now that it is gone, I wish I'd purchased more.

Since Two (Three) Buck Chuck varies so greatly in quality, a friend in Alexandria would buy a single bottle when he visited. He'd then go to the car in the parking lot, pop the wine, and sample. If it was one of those great blends, he'd go back in and buy 4 or 5 cases, taking careful note of the batch numbers on the box. If it wasn't that great, he'd either limit his buy or hold off for a week or two.

'Tis a pity I gave up booze in '95.

The whites are usually better than the reds that result in a nasty headache.

Sadly, they did not sell wine at the Conn stores. We have filled out the form and keep hoping.

Not being from the east, what is Trader Joe's? Is it a liquor store or grocery store....never heard of it before.

My personal request is for a Gordon's Market Place store. There are several in Florida, but not one close enough to us. I've requested they consider central Florida...Ocala, Leesburg or Villages.

Trader Joe's is both a liquor store and a grocery store rolled into one. But, their selection of wine at discount prices is remarkable.

I'm more a fan of their food offerings myself. They carry an eclectic assortment of frozen & packaged dishes & meats that you won't find easily anywhere else. Their prices on everything are incredibly low. Kind of a budget-gourmet store. It's just a fun place to shop!
