I've been a fan of his but can't reconcile this choice with Yeats, Thomas Mann, Hermann Hesse, and T. S. Eliot et al who are also winners. Thoughts?

"People are crazy and times are strange
I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range
I used to care, but things have changed"

Should rap music be considered rock n roll?

I am glad to be a frog, our children will have to adapt, sad but true.

Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, vote for trump and this craziness will be reversed.

His lyrics not only changed the world but have been the foundation for countless songs by so many other entertainers. Congratulations Bob, so well deserved!

You need to remember the Nobel prizes are awarded by committees. A camel is a horse designed by a committee. They gave the Peace Prize to Obama, and even he doesn't understand why. So, yeah, why not Bob Dylan?

All validity of any rhyme or reason simply eludes me. I give about as much credence to Nobel prizes as I do to the Academy Awards, or the political ramblings of a Hollywood anything (as if they understand the economy or the ebb and flow of society in any real way).

Ask most people under 50 who Nobel was, or what he "invented" (or his first name) and you will get blank stares and wrong answers most of the time (btw: I am under 50).

I have absolutely no problem with Bob Dylan winning this prize for his body of work. However, if I had to pick one song, strip away the music, and call the lyrics a poem, I would have to say that either Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) or Hotel California (The Eagles) would get my vote for the greatest of all time.
