Page A3 of today's Daily Sun buries a headline about how the IRS allowed foreigners, many of them illegal, to claim $7,000,000,000,00 improperly. The claims were for child tax credits. They were permitted by the IRS even though the workers did not provide Social Security numbers. I wonder if hard working people like you and I could get away with this type of criminal conduct. Foreigners, illegals, professional entitlement seekers and criminals are feeding off taxpayer dollars while Congress and government bureaucracies encourage even more unfair "redistribution" of the American taxpayers hard earned income.
Another unanswered raid.....no ....theft of the taxpayers money and they keep coming back for more.
We need a straight flat tax even though it will put the vast majority of IRS employees and the corrupt system they operate...out of work at a savings of untold billions in salaries and lofty benefits. The saddest part is that the nonfeasance, malfeasance and misfeasance perpetuated by government and its employees are tolerated and rewarded by more salary and benefit awards. When do we say enough?
The Constitution never intended the government to withhold, seize and otherwise confiscate the hard earned income of Americans before they even see it. Withholding taxes are the equivalent of government confiscation and seizure of assets. Do away with the unconstitutional withholding tax by establishing a fair flat tax or national sales tax.

I would remind you that isn't from 2009, but 2008 since you highlighted "redistribution". That would have been on his predecessor's watch.

I would remind you that in the full context of my quote I said, "Foreigners, illegals, professional entitlement seekers and criminals are feeding off taxpayer dollars while Congress and government bureaucracies encourage even more unfair "redistribution" of the American taxpayers hard earned income."
The operative and relevant words being "encourage even more unfair "redistribution". In your gleeful eagerness to bash "Bush" you see only what your left tilting bias wants you to see. I did not assign blame to any party. Both are culpable and my concern is that the "redistribution" ideology of the current Obama administration can only make the abuse potential worse.

I agree cabo. A flat tax fixes many ills of the current system. Eliminates most of the IRS, unproductive lawyers and tax accountants, and puts the burden on everyone. And that's why we will never see it. Too many hands in the cookie jar that would come out empty. And they will fix the issue of illegals getting this money by making them all card carrying liberals so they can take more of our money. So sad how far we have declined as a nation.

without it always having to be converted to a he did, they did, no they didn't, etc, etc. It seems like when who ever, can find a way to lay their interpretation of an issue as a fault of the opposition or blame some other 'party' it sort of allows what ever their leaning or party chooses to believe.
Even an argument for the sake of an argument is more desirable than the always make it a partisan something approach.
Back to the thread. Add to the illegals or any other non social security member getting undeserved benefits....prisoners making out phony tax returns with made up SS numbers getting billions of $$ annually.
Just how can these things happen? If I put something on a wrong line I get it back!!!!
Maybe crime does not pay, but criminals/illegals/non-US citizens can get paid.
I don't think that is what our founding fathers had in mind. But the entitlement crowd, those getting and those making sure it is provided, could care less about we the people or any of the values being trashed.

I'm interpreting it wrong, but it seemed to me that cabo was attributing the problem to Congress and the government bureaucracies, not any one party.
You're right, btk, since it seems that those of us who choose to play by the rules are the ones on the losing end. Unfortunately, that is the case in a whole lot of areas (cheating on the tee time system, insurance frauds, etc.)

The worst is yet to come.
If "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" as defined in the last (and failed) bill reappears, the basis for any quasi-amnesty is no federal prosecution (and hope that states won't either) of illegals for identity fraud, identity theft, welfare fraud, tax fraud, misrepresentation of a multitude of things, acquisition of known forged documents, forgery of documents and other such criminal acts.
The irony is that American citizens will still continue (and rightly so) to be prosecuted for all these criminal acts. So, if you are an American citizen committing any of these criminal acts, you can anticipate going to jail; but if you are an illegal, your act will have to be ignored so you can be given legal status here complete with a work authorization card.
What a deal!

right and or wrong being a basic concept. Everything....EVERYTHING.... that is considered, proposed and passed is based on political impact ONLY. As a result right or wrong has no bearing.
They do begin to add up...foreign or domestic corporations that do not pay any taxes whatsoever...politicians and the wealthy that do not pay any taxes (even when they are owed)...
The eye is clearly off the ball and the American people....we the people....just could care less. Eventually they will and it will be too late. For the illegals, the hiding it away corporations, the wealthy and the politicians don't care because they remain unaffected.
The so called recent tea party doesn't come close to the magnitude of demonstration and upheaval that it will take to change the momentum will never happen.
Special interests and minority issues are the name of the game. The majority....the very silent majority...will get what it deserves...not much!!!!!!!!!

Right on Cabo....
I think most folks don't care a bit "who shot John". As many of my friends here in the South say: "It don't matter"! We are sick of it and want it changed. So the recently elected big changer is the logical one that ought to start the process of real change in this idiotic tax system.
Get on with it and forget about the blame game.:cus:

FANTASTIC IDEA! BUT! We'd all have to be smoking some of that stuff that our politicians admit to have smoked in order to believe that any of what you propose will happen!:1rotfl:

It can happen if we elect the right people.
Electing left wing radicals who go around the world apologizing for America, trashing capitalism, coddling dictators, crippling our counter terrorism agencies, cutting defense, taking over banks, health care and other private industries, raising taxes, exploding our debt, spending us into oblivion, working to skyrocket energy costs, etc, etc, etc… sure won’t get us there.

"WE" will never elect the "RIGHT" people. We have given in to a special interest mentality in our country that will vote for whoever even vaguely represents some biased viewpoint, not what what is rational for the taxpayers. We will vote for anyone that we believe will throw some money at our point of view.
The Right wants it their way.
The Left theirs
Illegals theirs
Hawks theirs
Doves theirs
Disabled theirs
S.S. recipients theirs
Unions theirs
Teachers theirs
And On and On and On....... as many special interests as their are people in our country I would surmise.
Plus the fact that everyone wants some of everyone else s tax money, but no one wants to pay! Hurray, support my cause, my thinking, my desires! But someone else should pay.
I'm certain the "we the people" will never be cohesive in voting for someone who passes the "smell test". If it looks like, acts like, thinks like, smells like, someone who is for our special interest and not the common man/woman, we will vote them in. Rest for sure. It's ludicrous to think that anyone would get a soapbox high enough or speak clear enough to overcome special interests and get elected.
God help us as a nation. (some would say I'm not allowed to say that) We've

the voting eligible population (legal that is) DOES NOT vote.
And over 80% of the voting eligible DOES NOT participate in communicating with the lawmakers of the land...state or federal. Hence the legislators are at will to do as they see fit and that would be responding to their personal needs first and their benefactors....special interest groups...second.
There is no mystery to the solution. It has unfortunately no doubt degenerated to a problem with no hope of solution.
