When using my return address here in The Villages (town) can you say
" The Villages, FL 32162 OR must you use:
" Lady Lake, FL 32162"?
We've had some mail issues and we're thinking maybe we should be using Lady Lake for the town rather than The Villages.

The Villages is a Community Development District that lies in three counties and at least three different towns.
If you live in The Town of Lady Lake, Wildwood or Fruitland Park but also in The Villages, you can use either.
I believe that 32162 is a Sumter County Zip code however and you wouldn't be in Lady Lake if that's your Zip Code.

We are in zip 32163 (the newest zip, I think), and have been using The Villages for 3 years with no apparent problems.

Because they are worried about getting mail or a package if they use the incorrect wording. Op stated had mail issues.

LADY LAKE FL
I live in Lady Lake and my zip is 32159. I don't believe that 32162 is a Lady Lake zip. I know that it is for many of my friends that live in Sumter county but I don't think that anyone living in Lady Lake within The Villages or not has a 32162 zip.
Here's a photo from Zillow showing 32162.

I really don't think any mail issue is due to the town name as zip codes is what they use as the primary sort. Use your full nine digit zip code whenever possible.
I use Lady lake when I want people to think I am poor, The Villages when I want them to think I am "RICH."

My info was from USPS..........Just did a cut and paste. Not sure the source behind Zillow.

I ran into trouble early on....1990s...when I wasn't consistent. Whichever you use, use all the time.

For years I have received Christmas cards from a friend who puts only my Zip Code on the address. No city and no state, but it is delivered.

OK, here's the USPS map: ZIP Code 32159 Map, Housing Stats, More for Lady Lake, FL (http://www.unitedstateszipcodes.org/32159/)
If you don't live within the red lines, you are not in Lady Lake.
I do know that there are a few business that are just over the town line in Summerfield that are served by the Lady Lake post office. They use the 32159 zip code for that reason even though they are not actually in the 32159 area. This could be the case with some residences as well.

Everyone that lives in The Villages can use either The Villages or Lady Lake for their mail. The ZIP Codes 32162 and 32163 are strictly located in The Villages. The reason everyone including the 32159 ZIP Code in the villages can use Lady Lake is the fact that all of our mail comes out of the Lady Lake post office. Unfortunately some commercial entities do not recognize The Villages as a city since it is not so they use Lady Lake. Even the portions that are in Wildwood or Fruitland Park use The Villages or Lady Lake as the city! It's strictly has to do with where your mail is processed/sorted which in all of The Villages is Lady Lake. But I also agree that your ZIP Code is what controls the delivery more than anything else. So I think you must've had a mail person that messed up your delivery.

We live in The Villages in the Town of Lady Lake (Mira Mesa) and we use: The Villages, FL 32159. Sometimes we will be told 32159 only comes up at Lady Lake because that is the actual post office where our mail goes. You are in Sumter County 32162 so using Lady Lake which is in Lake County could confuse it even more. Just my opinion. Good Luck

Zip is prime indicator for the post office that serves your specific address.

I am new here also and have also had mail issues. Knowing the USPS, the city matters not one bit. It is only the zip and possible +4 that matters.
That said, from what I understand there is no rhyme or reason at the mail station for the order of the boxes there. Then, figure in from what I understand is three separate mail people who do the mail every day. At least twice a week I have neighbors bringing me mail (forwarded from my old address).
The one certified letter that was sent to me I never did get, nor indication to go pick it up.
But, I get most bills via email and most days the mail goes from the box right to the trash can next to it. :MOJE_whot:
