If you don't know GOD, don't make stupid remarks!!!!!!!

A United States Marine was attending some college courses between assignments. He had completed missions in Iraq and Afghanistan .

One of the courses had a professor who was an avowed atheist and a member of the ACLU. One day the professor shocked the class when he came in.

He looked to the ceiling and flatly stated, 'God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I'll give you exactly 15 minutes.' The lecture room fell silent.

You could hear a pin drop. Ten minutes went by and the professor proclaimed, 'Here I am God. I'm still waiting.' It got down to the last couple of minutes when the Marine got out of his chair, went up to the professor, and cold-cocked him; knocking him off the platform.

The professor was out cold. The Marine went back to his seat an d sat there, silently The other st u dents were sh ocked and stunned and sat there looking on in silence. The professor eventually came to, noticeably shaken, looked at the Marine and asked, 'What the heck is the matter with you? Why did you do that?'

The Marine calmly replied, 'God was too busy today protecting America 's soldiers who are protecting your right to say stupid stuff and act like an idiot. So, He sent me.'

bsliny, I am curious as to what your response would be if upon being "coldcocked" the professor hit his head on the corner of the desk and died, leaving a widow and three kids. As I read your message, he would have died for expressing his freedom of speech and freedom of religion, two of the most basic rights protected by the Bill of Rights (the very Rights the Marine is sworn to defend).
Please, I am a Republican and a practicing Christian so please do not come back at me with attacks on liberals and atheists. However, physical attacks on persons who speak opinions that you differ with is not what this nation was founded on or what the US Armed Forces are all about.

This post should be titled "Stupid Story". It's basically a story of intolerance and an insult to the military. Apparently rather than the military defending free speech, they are trained to physically assault the person who they disagree with. That's what you have to buy into if you think this is a "great post" and it's safe to say that is not how they are trained.

For those who agree with the actions taken in this fictional story lets hear from you and state that this is how you raised your son or daughter and it is exactly how you would expect them to respond to such a situation.

"Great post", hardly. It's an insult to the men and women of the military who have fought and died to protect the rights of people to express their opinion no matter how much we all disagree with those opinions.

it was meant to be humor. Not a religious (or not) debate.

Paredo's law at work...more than 89% who read it would have chuckled and made nothing of it.

The debating should be made to the serious diatribe that fills the 24/7 media daily.

It was HARDLY meant to be taken serious, as you did..
I would NEVER insult the men and woman that keep us free...My father fought in WW ll and I have the utmost respect for OUR Military..
Many of my family members are still fighting for OUR FREEDOM!

This was a joke, and I laughed, but unfornately many of the professors in colleges across the country are like this one.
I don't know if I would have knocked him out, but I would have applauded the action of the Marine, and don't say anything about the military, it has nothing to do with the military. It would have been just as funny if it would have been a long hair.
People get a sence of humor.

I suppose if the part about the Professor being an atheist and member of the ACLU (there are many Christians who are members too) had been removed...and the part where the professor is knock out cold was changed to "removed" from the podium....it would have been hilarious!! However....with two of my brothers in the Marines...I can't imagine either one of them reacting in such a manner...perhaps thinking about it...or saying it....but not actually doing it.

With that said....God Bless our Troops....and may God (or whomever one believes in...) bless America...even the professor....
