View Full Version : Your ballot will not be thrown out

Prior to last week Florida law allowed the county board of elections to reject your mail in ballot if they felt your signature on the outside of the envelope did not match your on record signature. And the law did not require that you be told they were throwing out your ballot nor give you an opportunity to appeal or vote in person instead if they were rejecting the mail in ballot.

And amazingly, the same rule did not apply if you left the signature blank. In that case they notified you so you could come and sign your envelope.

Federal judge blasts Florida secretary of state in voting case - CNNPolitics.com (http://www.cnn.com/2016/10/17/politics/florida-secretary-of-state-voting-case/)

A federal judge has ruled that this system was wrong.

"It is illogical, irrational, and patently bizarre for the State of Florida to withhold the opportunity to cure from mismatched-signature voters while providing that same opportunity to no-signature voters."

"This court knows disenfranchisement when it sees it," Walker added, "and it is obscene."

Now if your signature is felt not to match, perhaps you have aged, or your hand was shaking, or you forgot whether you used your middle name or not... you WILL be notified and given a chance to appeal the rejection or vote in person.

I have heard (I am not saying that this is true) - that mail in and early ballots are only counted if the votes on election day does not have a clear winner. For instance, if there are 20,000 voters and 2,000 mail in ballots - if the winner of a given race is more than the number of mail in ballots...why count the mail in ballots? (but for local races that could then in turn also be subject to the same parameters).

Then there is things like this...Postal Office Worker Bragging About It, Claims He Uses His Job To Rip Up Trump Ballots | Conservative Daily Post (https://conservativedailypost.com/postal-office-worker-bragging-about-it-claims-he-uses-his-job-to-rip-up-trump-ballots/)

I guess we have to begin by asking where "you heard"?
As far as the link..............consider the site!

Not true...check any Supervisor of Elections website on election nite and you will see that the absentee and early votes are posted well in advance of the election date votes!

Used to think that the internet would make us smarter electorate.

Seems it just makes us dumber !!!

People used to make jokes by saying....if you believe in UFOs there is a site for that, etc.

Now, it is all covered on some sites that offer conspiracy theories galore, covering all subjects. UFOs and since it is election year all kind of conspiracies out there.

Ever see even ONE of these be validated at any time ?

Unfortunately, this is a true story and happened to me. On being shown proof of the inaccuracy of a chain email, the sender told me "I don't care if it's not true, I still believe it!

For a number of reasons, I get quite a few of those chain emails especially this particular year and have NEVER EVER seen one that was true. I mean NEVER EVER

Relying on chain emails or most websites outside the main, will ensure that you make the wrong decision on election day.

People today seem to believe anything they have a need to believe and facts be damned.

Watching new channel this morning and listening to a person just flat out lying...I mean terribly and kept repeating it the more challenges thrown

Please, I posted this information to encourage people to vote not to offer an opportunity to have political comments which will get the thread moved.

I thought it important that those who were nervous about submitting a vote by mail because of the way they have been handled to know the system has been improved. This would seem to be of benefit to a community where many voters may have issues with exact duplication of their signature over time.

I want EVERYONE to vote, not just those who might support my candidates and this court decision makes it easier.

You are absolutely correct. Your opening was on target and appreciated.

Post 2 is probably the "culprit", since many of us have been exposed to that stuff this year, but the idea of giving all a comfort zone in voting is great.

The system has worked for many years and continues to work and continues to be closely monitored.

Nothing is flawless, but our elections are a standard we should be proud of, and there is no reason to distrust any aspect.

Many local officials overreact to protect the integrity of the system, and I applaud your clarifying post.

My signature is terrible-IMPOSSIBLE TO READ.
When asked to print my name, on a form for example I do not print my middle name-that is true except on investment or bank forms.

Last week I received a DEMOCRATIC mailing addressed to my full name-including my middle name. CLEARLY SOMEONE AT EITHER FIDELITY OR CITIZENS FIRST HAS SOLD OR GIVEN MY PRIVATE INFORMATION TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY.

YES, THIS ELECTION IS RIGGED. I do however wonder what kind of FOOL would change their vote based on a PARTY BULK MAILING.

Quite an accusation.

Since you know, somehow, Fidelity or Citizens sold or gave away your address, have you confronted them about it ?

How does receiving a mailing "rig" an election ?

Besides being from a highly dubious site, the story itself has some huge holes in it.

Exactly how did this supposed person know, without opening every single absentee ballot...for whom the vote(s) was/were being cast?

It wouldn't surprise me in the least, if the story was totally made up...and intended to present an agenda.

Where did you hear the election was rigged?
