View Full Version : Long lines at the polls

I do not know if this is working yet, but someone has to give it a go.

We tried to vote early yesterday and today, but the lines were an hour long on both days. I'll try again tomorrow. It looks like Trump is doing very well in Florida so far. But, there is no use counting our chickens before the eggs hatch. Meaning, Nov 8 will be the final tally on the voting.

The ONLY vote that counts is the electors. If the R party doesn't want Trump, he doesn't get elected.

Lots of lines but that does not equate to Trump doing well. Do you have inside info on the count>:)

I am also curious how long lines equates to Trump doing well ?

As of this afternoon, heavybturnout in Miami area which is democratic. Lightbturnout in panhandle which Trump needs.

Question is Hillsborough count, and could not get valid reports. Trump needs that barely.

The polls now mean crap. Voter turnout is now the only thing.

When people say long lines I can't help but wonder what the expectation was.

I went to Laurel Manor this afternoon around 3 PM. The was a line. Long?????

We were done and out in less than 15 minutes.

Long lines are no excuse to not vote. As retired folks who cares if one has to wait in a line.....retired people in a rush I do not get!

Thanks for the post.

The OP also confused me. In Miami area wher voting is very heavy, NO lines.

Maybe OP can clarify where they went

Actually, on what is your confidence for Trump based ?

Just checked....he leads with Bloomberg by only 1 point and same poll had him up by 2 yesterday.

All other polls for Florida have Clinton leading, albeit close but with minimum time left a lead is a lead.

I'll stand in line, but not an hour line. I'll try tomorrow. Being retired means you take advantage of the little time you have left.

My wife stood in line for fifteen minutes and it only moved a about ten feet. The line was looped all around the inside and one lady told her she had been waiting in line for 45 minutes and still had a long way to go. Maybe it was because it was before noon. She had to be somewhere at 1pm so she left without voting. We'll probably stand in line today to get it over with. The last two election years, I have been able to walk in and had NO wait. It's all in the timing, although there are a lot of Trump supporters out there this time.

So far, in Marion, Sumter and Lake counties double the amount of Republican voters have submitted their votes as compared to Democrat voters. Guess the Democrats are waiting until Nov 8th for the first time in history. Normally, early voting is a Democrat thing.

Anyone have numbers for other counties?

Maybe in some election years, but not this year. So far in Sumter, Marion and Lake county, Repubicans have turned out to vote on a ratio to more than two to one over the Democrats. According to today's "other news" that gets censured when I put it in a comment.

If you want to keep your country free vote for Trump. If you want your children and grandchildren to witness the fall of America vote for Crooked Hillary. You've heard the news on her and you know it's true. Unless you are a millionaire your in trouble with Hillary. She'll take everything you have and give you a dictatorship. Trump is truthful about what he's going to do for you. Believe him. If you don't vote for him you will be so sorry and it will be too late and it will never change back to Freedom in America.

It's HARDLY 11 million. That was the number they used back in the 90s or early 00s. There are 5X that many anchor babies alone here now. They're 1/3 the population. They're the MAJORITY below age 6.

While you slept, while you believed the lies about their numbers...they've been busy breeding you out of your own country.

This is the official number:
"55 million. The Hispanic population of the United States as of July 1, 2014, making people of Hispanic origin the nation's largest ethnic or racial minority. Hispanics constituted 17 percent of the nation's total population.Sep 14, 2015"
how many hispanics are in america US? - Google Search (https://www.google.com/search?q=how+many+hispanics+are+in+america+US%3F&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8)

But those numbers are way too low. Look around...look at the workers. Hispanics. Look at all the Mexican Restaurants and stores. They're really 1/3 the population. Those 55 million had anchor babies...lots and lots of anchor babies.

The country as we know it...is finished...30 years tops.

Unless Trump can send them all back. No hiring, no welfare, no votes, no rights, they'll leave.

Why do we have early voting? It seems that we got along pretty well without it for two centuries.
What it does is give an indication of who the winner is going to be. There's a lot of speculation based on turnout of certain areas. This could affect people who have not voted yet.
What is the reasoning behind this?

Larger voter base. In the old days, you were given the day off to vote. Not anymore. It is convenient to have early voting. I don't really see a problem with it.

So, you do not feel we should obey our laws? If you don't like our laws, why not change them, instead of encouraging criminal activity of breaking our federal laws?

We have laws for a reason. They serve a purpose of maintaining an orderly and fair society. I guess you have no problem if someone breaks into your home while you are gone and then refuses to leave after you get back. Perhaps your neighbors will say that those folks are better neighbors than you and demand that they be allowed to stay in your home. Perhaps even insist that you pay for the utilities and provide food for them to live on.

As usual Republicans ignore the facts, really Reps double than Dems, try again. There have only been 6,000 (0.3% of the vote) more registered Reps than Dems who have voted so far. So Rep early voting is down from 2008 when 6.8% of Reps voted early by now.

Poor Trump is going to lose Florida and poor Reps are going to have to kiss Hillary's a** for at least 4 years, ha ha

Actually, the vote percentage is, in round numbers......and this is as of just a few hours ago

....33 % of all votes to be cast in Florida have been cast

.....total of 31 million votes

.....as of this morning....only 30 thousand votes seperate the two parties.

Wondering how many split ballots, ie....Repubs going for Clinton or Dems for Trump

Hmmm. Drain the swamp...........

I think it means that many of us want to be free of the tyranny of political correctness and being pushed around by the liberal press. I think it means that the hard working class who in some cases have become wealthy because of that practice are sick of being criticized for their traditional views. I think it means that we would like to steer clear of those who would allow dangerous terrorists into this country when we are at war with them. I think it means that we are tired of subsidizing druggies and thugs.

Based on your post and the previous....

....how does a President Trump get one single thing done if he is "draining the swamp". Congress is vital and if he is undercutting them, jus freeze.

Again, are you suggesting we abandon freedom of the press ?

Are you suggesting we also amend that document and cut out congress from making decisions ?

I don't get it. Used to be, and I can recall when it changed but you would not like it, that we settled and compromised..

That ceased during John Biehner's term when his party said..no more compromise. I am one of this Republicans but my party is the one who ceased to try to win support and simply began to say no and stop listening.

Seems to me we are now throwing a temper tantrum saying we are not going to talk, we will not compromise. It is our way or the highway.

Listen, the Republicans (most) stopped immigration reform, the Republicans (until the last year) flat out refused to offer an alternative to Obamacare, .....point is your anger. Is simply saying..it's my way or the highway.

The Republicans had potential candidates and they were shot down.

Ask speaker Boehner and I suspect he would tell you he saw this coming.

I am sorry...I still believe in total and complete freedom of the press....I still believe in compromise....I stilll believe in DEMANDING character in those we entrust our country to.

Watch Fox news once in while grasshopper

While your response is pretty snarky and wise a$$, I will try and respond as politely as possible.

I used to watch Fox on a fairly regular basis, but in the last 18 months or so they have changed.

I am a conservative, BUT NOT a radical or extremist. I do not like or believe in such extremism.

I suppose that when Mr Trump calls out the "rigged media" or a poster on here says that "draining the swamp" means not allowing the "media to push us around".....my supposition is that those comments are aimed at everybody BUT Fox. I suppose they are aimed at websites EXCEPT the Breitbart of the world.

I oft times do not like how the media acts, but suppose that has always been the case, but I never felt "pushed around" or want the press to do anything but what they do. Fox as of present seems to want to "push" around folks so I do what I always do...change channels thus I never get pushed around. The search for facts isn't supposed to be easy, but I suspect those wishing for this country to go back in time just do not want to do that.

Supporting a man with no moral code whatsoever is astonishing to me.

Being opposed to someone like Clinton is certainly understandable.

I support USA and despite his words, Trump does not. That, of course is my opinion, but based in actual history of actual actions I think it is well founded. Getting the next four years ever with and surviving is my goal.

Hoping our "leaders" understand that the best course might not be only yours but compromise oft times gets you there.

No it doesn't, it is rigged proving it every day, who do you follow on the news the most?

Supporting a man with no moral code whatsoever is astonishing to me.

Larger voter base. In the old days, you were given the day off to vote. Not anymore. It is convenient to have early voting. I don't really see a problem with it.

The problem with it has just been revealed as FBI Director Comey has announced that the are reopening an investigation on Secretary Clinton based on newly discovered evidence.

I think that everyone who has voted should be given the option to vote again.

Since most independents like me vote Trump, thank you for confirming a Trump landslide.

But some of us have known it would be a Trump landslide all along.

And we have yet to see the emails concerning Hillarys Parkinson's.

Even being aware of your childish simple minded trolling, I will indulge you for a bit.

Thus, supply credible evidence on ANY sickness about Clinton, and of course we won't call the insane rankings of your hero as credible.

BUT while we ar at it, we haven't seen those tax returns yet, nor has he responded to the growing list if Trump foundation questions.

I might add that your reading comprehension is a bit skewed in your simple minded interpretation of the early voting. Not being as stupid and presumptive as you, I assume nothing but your response indicates a basic lack of any reading comprehension.

"Donald Trump is professionally unqualified and psychologically unstable and too unpredictable to be the president. Enabling Donald Trump to win the election — either by voting for him or for a third-party candidate, or abstaining from voting, makes one complicit in creating the social order a Trump presidency would spearhead. One far more depressing and dangerous than the dystopian America he currently portrays.

Trump's campaign behavior clearly demonstrates his inability to provide leadership in a deliberative democracy. Trump not only lacks the knowledge and experience to discuss just about any subject that matters in governance, but his unpredictable temperament and lack of self-control make him vulnerable to deflections and baiting by his opponents."

Hispanics are almost a majority in Florida. And they're becoming the majority in many states.

I know many hispanics voting for trump. The vast majority of Cubans are vocally pro trump, but I know others that are in the silent majority that will only be vocal in the voting booth.

Any idea who will be the Democrat choice for president? After all, shouldn't she be incarcerated BEFORE she is elected rather than America going through the scandal of having the first female president going to jail in disgrace?

How about Biden? He is dopey, and more so if he drinks (he used to drink) but he will make a good comedy second along with WC Fields (aka Kaine).

I like you and therefore am rooting for Chicago, but I would not put good money on them as I have on trump.

Maybe a token bet for luck.
