Does anyone around the villages offer poppies for November 11th?

In the past, I have seen people selling them in front of Publix stores.

Poppies are traditionally for Memorial Day. The wearing of poppies came from the poem "In Flanders Field" written in 1915. Memorial Day is to remember and honor those who died in battle or as a result of being wounded in battle.

(I would link the poem "In Flanders Field" here but I keep forgetting to learn how to link on my iPad.)

Veterans Day, while remembering the sacrifice of lives, is also to honor the living who have served honorably in our military.

Both days have their origins in WWI........"The War to End All Wars."

The American Legion and the VFW have traditionally offered poppies on Memorial Day. I do not know if there have been any changes to that tradition.

PS: Whoops.....please forgive me. You asked for the time and I built you a clock. :)

There were two gentlemen with Flanders Poppies outside Fresh Market yesterday. Flanders Poppies pertain mainly to the first and second world wars. Remembrance Day falls on a Friday this year, while Remembrance Sunday will be on November 13 – the second Sunday of November. We have been lucky enough to be in London during Remembrance Day celebrations at the Cenotaph, very memorable.
