Have the 'Love Bugs' arrived yet? I think someone said they are around twice a year in May and September. Is that true? I know they are harmless but annoying. Have they arrived in TV yet?

WHEN THEY DO ARIVE IN FULL FORCE MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THEM OFF YOUR CAR ASAP AS THEY WILL EAT INTO THE PAINT. YOU CAN USUALLY JUST WASH THEM OFF BUT ONCE THEY STAY ON FOR A LITTLE WHILE THEY ARE MORE DIFFICULT TO GET OFF. THERE IS SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN BUY AND PUT ON A PIECE OF SOFT CLOTH AND RUB IT OVER THEM AND THEY COME OFF RIGHT AWAY.Gooooooooooooooood Luck

yes Kathy, they have just started to appear, but they're not as bad yet as they were a couple of years ago.
What is the product that will make them come off easily? Thanks.

My car is a mess after a drive down to Bradenton on Sunday. What is the product that will take them off. The front grill is a mess. Just loaded with love bugs - funny though, they are smiling a lot.??

I've used Goo Gone on my vehicle to remove imbedded bugs. It works well, doesn't harm the paint and is environmentally safe. All bases are covered!

Unfortunately the only natural predator of the lovebug is the automobile windshield, bumber and hood.
The best way to protect your car is to spray the front with either WD40, which you can buy at any hardware store, or cooking oil, baby oil or vaseline....vaseline is the most expensive. After the fact, you need to get the little buggers off as soon as possible to prevent their pitting your paint surface. Do this by rubbing WD40 over their little carcases with a soft cloth.

How long will the season last? Are they out day and night? How long can you go before cleaning them off your car before your finish is harmed?

Compared to previous years, the Love Bug seasons in '08 were almost nonexistent. I thought maybe they figured we were suffering enough with the election campaigns, so they stayed away. The Spring '09 season has started and so far it has been very mild. Yeah, I've seen a few bugs, but not the hordes to which I became accustomed in years past. Maybe it's a global warming thing?

Oh my yes they are here!! Go to any pool and you'll see them. They're not as bad...so far...as in previous years however. September is usually the worst time!!
