Ever wonder where PC "thinking" comes from and how it got to be such a cancer in the body politic?

The current revival is from the women's involvement. Women don't like "hurtful" speech...they don't like the truth much either if it "interferes" with their beliefs...as wrong as they may be. Women want to hear "happy thoughts". PC has grown as the influence of women has grown. It's now the "Feminist Nazi's" who will come after you, not the "government" as it originally meant.

It used to be known as MANNERS, good or bad.

I do not relate political correctness to manners at all.

Political correctnes is the means by which people can avoid doing and saying what is right or wrong. Manners having no effect.

Good manners dictates that one does not say things that offend. PC is the same. It has nothing to do with right or wrong. It's all in perception.

Political correctness is a marxist invention created to silence free speech. Saul Alinsky incorporated it quite effectively into his community organizing agenda. Hillary who knew and admired Alinsky is quite adapt at its technique as is Obama.

Conversely while trump may at time be as a subtle as a train wreck you are at least assured an opportunity to counterpoint:D

I actually agree with you.

Those that try to eschew being PC, do it primarily so that they can be the azzholes that they are...without recrimination.

I say it is wrong to let someone get by doing something incorrect or unlawful without say something whether they are offended or not.

That is the fallacy of political correctness, it breeds undue permissiveness and an unwarranted tolerance.

It has everything to do with right and wrong. If a person does something wrong it is more wrong to not let them know they are doing so.

So you are in line at the restaurant in TV for an hour. A couple comes in the door and steps in front of you asking for a table for 2. Your response?

You asked for it. :D

The 'PC' response would be along the lines of.... "Excuse me, but we have been in line waiting for a table and I believe we are ahead of you."

Whereas the azzholes would prefer... "Hey jerk, go to the back of the line."

But hey, I get that you would prefer the latter over the former...therefore proving my assertion.

So thanks.

I find it interesting how you extrapolate what YOU think people mean or intend into something that makes your point but is completely not what the person intended.

Very Consistent.

I won't address your wrong conclusions above but will offer that your statement

"Excuse me, but we have been in line waiting for a table and I believe we are ahead of you."

It definitely address right vs wrong so cannot be politically correct as it would most likely be offensive.

It is like trying to explain a joke to one who doesn't get it....usually a waste of time!

Yep. Frequently used tactic. Probably because there's not much else to fall back on.

PC and Manners are the same.

Although, PC does incorporate a bit more. If someone does not agree with you because you lack PC, then you are a racist or a bigot. If you have bad manners, in most cases you are considered a lowly cretin.

PS dictates that nothing is said that could offend. True or not.

Exactly, it SILENCES...ANY opposition with one word...racist, homophobe, misogynist, etc.

It IS wrong to let someone keep getting by and not saying anything. And PC isn't about a person or a couple...unless they're "protected". It's about groups, races, genders. NOT being able to speak freely or truthfully.

You asked for it. :D
