Mom and I are having tile laid on our lanai this week. Hopefully, they will finish the lanai tomorrow. Then it's the backsplash and sealing the tile inside the house!

Everything on the lanai has been in the house all week. I've found two of those little stinkers inside the house! I caught one and threw him out on the lanai. I wasn't able to catch the second one that I wanted to put out the front door. The last I knew it was under the sofa in the TV room! Obvuoisly, he doesn't know he would be safer outside instead of inside with my critters!

How do you catch them? Can they do any harm in the house?

No harm. I'm looking at one now that our dog spotted behind our wine rack. Nobody can reach him. If they die in the house, they just dry up, not smell. I wish I could get him out, but oh well.

Use a butterfly net to catch and release.

PS: they're called anoles. Lots of us just call them lizards or geckos, but that is incorrect.

Invasive species from central and south America. Anoles.

The smooth green ones with the red throat fan are Florida natives. The brown rough ones with the back ridge that look like mini dinos are the invasive ones.

P. P. S. Sorry -- all anoles, geckos and chameleons are lizards, but the other way around is not true.

While the green anole can and may change color, it is not a chameleon.

Oh, good! I can go back to calling them lizards. "Anole" is not very much fun to say.

Beau's score is about 40 anoles and one chameleon. He gets them at a number of places. I usually just call them lizards. Florida Lizards Guide - Florida eco traveler guide (http://www.wildflorida.com/florida_lizards.php)

When we had Amber in Palm Harbor- the fat square cocker spaniel I liked to take around the movie star trailers in Rohnert Park, CA at the Red Lion Inn prior to that-- Amber could not see very well. There was an anole in one plant for a month or so. You would see the leaves moving every so often. Then there was another one in the bathtub drain which somehow managed to survive through showers.

Beau with easier prey below. It does not move unless I throw it.

Might be easier if you had some help emptying those annoying bottles in the way:thumbup:

Caught one on our lanai today; opened the slider and saw one on the front of the recliner head around to the back of it. Caught it with a handkerchief and released it outside.

Hi there CFrance, listen if you drink all that wine try not to say anole....it might come out a little wrong! LOL!

I was wiring a new light to a new post on a picnic table in the midday blasting sun on day last week, everything was going good. Mrs. Nucky lifted a concrete ring around a sprinkler to trim the grass and scared one of these anoles, he ran under the side door to the garage, she chased the little dude with a broom and knocked the new light onto the ground shattering the glass. So we can conclude these lizards are a pain somewhere, let me know when you finish the tasty looky wine where they are a pain??? Thank's for the helping hand! :BigApplause:
