I'm a wanna-be and thought a great way to really get to know what The Villages are like (yes, I'm coming for a LSV - but not soon enough!) is to get some villagers to describe their typical day (or weekend)... how 'bout it?

Wow!
Im not sure there is such a thing as a "typical "day in The Villages.
Im a snowbird at present but I know that when I am there, I have a list a mile long of activities and social events to participate in. I have to prioritize every day because there is so much to do. It really depends on what your interests are, because there is definitely something for everone in TV.

Like Nonie, we are snowbirds too and I agree that for us there is no typical day. We do have one common activity for each day and that's a walk (about 45 mins). After the walk it's golf, day trips, flea markets, and gathering with friends. Most nights we eat out and about 50% of our lunches are out.
We do a lot of exploring in the towns around TV and my wife is a "professional" shopper. Typical is up to you. You will love it. Have fun.

Everyday is a "weekend".

I agree with all - so much is offered and available that you set your own tone and it easily changes from day to day. There is no "typical". I would say it is so unique that the biggest mistake "newbies" make is overcomitting themselves. There is so much to pick from they oversubscribe and end up wearing themselves out every day and/or not having any time to themselves because they committed to something or another for the entire day.
Initially, pace yourself. Keep your commitments low until you get a good feel for the lay of the land. Then enjoy!

Typical day? No such thing! I'm busier now than ever, and actually rely on a planner to keep me straight on when and where I'm supposed to be at any time.
You can couch-potato or run yourself ragged or combination thereof. You WILL find your stress level reduced in spite of being more active. No matter where you are now, you will escape a bunch of air pollution.
And the best part is the people - everyone is here because they want to be, not because life has them stuck here. That helps the overall community attitude.
Gotta run - heading down to LSL for the sunset viewing.....

Snowbirds here who spend more time in TV that NY......Typical for my husband is up at 6:30 am....3-4 days a week Pickleball 7:30 to 10:00 a.m., in softball season it's softball 2-3 days a week. Typical for me is professional shopping (we are still doing things in our home), otherwise, it's a walk, doggie run with friends (lol Nonie & Kath), lunch. We like to go to Lake Sumter Landing and/or Spanish Springs a few nights a week. We have a large group of friends (thanks TOTV), and spend time with them.
You will not be bored in TV!

reminds me of the story...
One day my wife said: "Hey honey, what are you gonna do today".
"Nothing", I answered.
The next day she said: "Are you going to nothing again today?"
"Yes", I said, "I'm not done yet."

Preparing to move into our new home (currently renting).
Went to new house, had attic stairs installed, new neighbor brought over brownies & chocolate chip cookies.
Started unpacking, neighbors came ove to see our new closets.
Went to TOTV luncheon saw some new & recently made friends, had a great time.
Went to LSL to pick out colors for my new golf cart, was in time for Happy Hour, met some more new friends under the clock. Was invited to play Bocce but we already had tkts for a concert at the Savannah Center.
And we haven't even really started living the "Lifestyle" yet!
Forgot!
While at LSL checked out the Mustangs on display, from vintage to new models, beautiful cars!
I just can't wait.

Typical day:
Read the paper, drink coffee, think about going to exercise class.
Check the computer for e-mails and Village happenings.
Check calendar to see if it is the day for yoga or the night for Pet Lovers, Canadian Club, Responsible Dog Owners, Villa Driveway Party, etc.
Think about taking pickleball lessons and decide against it.
Meet friends for lunch, check out Bargains and Treasures for new arrivals, feel guilty about missing exercise class.
Take the dogs to the Dog Park, walk a bit, talk to friends.
If it is really hot, hang out at the pool. Think about taking golf lessons. Decide to wait for six months.
Play mahjongg three times a week. Think about doing something active like aerobics. Go to the library and get some good books instead.
Happy Hour at Lake Sumter Landing if the entertainment is attractive. Or watch the sun set off the bridge. Go out to dinner with friends
Watch American Idol and vote for Adam Lambert

Echo Barefoots sentiments. Walk dog, clean up after dog, dog walks me home, admire the fantabulous beautimous job I did painting the LR, BR, and Kitchen. Tell friends & enemies I'm not for hire. Wake up from dream - huh. I've got to sell this :censored: house before we can get there.
