golf cart, golf course rules

Hi,
We're new part-timers and are trying to decide if we should buy a 2 seat or 4 seat cart. We like having friends come so 4 seats sound good but the big question is, "can we take a 4 seat cart on on all of the golf courses?"
If answers to this are to be found elsewhere, I aplologize, I can't find them.

The answer is yes you can take the four seater on the golf course but the downside it can only be for two players. You cannot have four players on the golf cart.

Great. Thanks. Sounds like it would work then. We could get the 4 seater so friends can go with us for non-golf events and be able to use it for two people on the golf course.

You'll find the stretch 4 seaters are long enough that they don't fit in the 2 seater golf cart spots at most courses. They stick out into the narrow path between carts parked "head in" on opposite sides of path (near proshops, club houses, etc). The 2 seaters with optional rear facing seat would work.

This brings up an interesting point. Has anyone noticed how those four seaters stick out in the traffic lanes in LSL? I saw one the other day that must have been a foot in the lane. Wonder who gets the ticket if you bang into the golf cart?

Not only do the stretch carts not fit in cart spaces, I have talked with some owners and dealers about the 4-forward seating carts and it is apparently very hard to turn into and out of some of the tunnels because of their length.

I think they stick out also, in most cases if there is the rack for golf bags. Just notice as you drive thru LSL.

The cure for that is backing these into the spots.

I have a 4 seater with 2 facing rear, and there are some issues driving it when it is full. Particularly if the rear seat is occupied by heavier folks. The rear facing seats are past the rear axle, causing a little see-saw effect on the cart as you drive - the front end feels lighter and it sways some - nothing terrible, but if you are planning to drive around with 4 full-sized people a lot, you may find the 4 forward facing seats to be easier. I've rented those, and you do need to take a little wider turn into tunnels, but they ride better with 4 on board. If you're driving around once in a while with 4 on board, the rear facing seats will work fine.

They have lots of accessories. You can also google golf cart seats and find them too.

We have the Star convertible four seat and love it. The car is no bigger than a 4-seater and in seconds converts.

You can do this, but the suspension etc would not be ideal for the extra weight and you could experience problems like StevefromNY mentioned. I bought a four seater (back to back seating) from a dealer with heaver suspension etc and it works great. It's an electric parcar and I've put over 50 miles on it in one day with four people and it never lost any zip.

I have a two seater with a rear-facing fold down rear seat. There is a fold down foot rest in the back also. I got it at KH Carts (now Freedom Carts). I had retractable seat belts put on the back and put a non-skid tread on the foot rest. It works well for the very few times I have extra passengers, however the handling is a little squirrelly with the extra weight.

Yes you can have a rear seat put on most carts. The only thing is you won't have the extended roof over the seats. A guy Vinnie at Joes Specialty on 441
next to the Solar Guys puts them on for $450.00

I have a two-seater with a fold-down rear facing rear seat with a fold-down floor board. It is only the size of a two-seater, not any longer and is very handy when you have company. When the rear seat is folded up, there is the usual space for golf clubs. I bought mine from KH Carts, which changed to Freedom Carts, which I think has since disappeared. You might call cart dealers and ask if they make this kind of cart...I have seen a few around. PM me if you want to see my cart.
