How do you get through the withdrawal suffered after returning home from your stay in TV?
I read these forums [and occassionally respond], read the Daily Sun on-line version, read the Leesburg Daily Commercial on-line, review homes for sale on various websites and look up property values and taxes at the tax appraiser websites for the tri-county area. Looking at my pix stored on the 'puter just makes me miss TV even more!
I miss my villages home sooooo much! What else can I do until I can get back there Jan. 2010?

I think you are doing all that you can do to get thru the withdrawl. In my case just knowing that I will back down again keeps that spark and excitement going for me.
hmm, mabe you are focusing a little too much on Village things. Do things to keep yourself busy and occupied that you love to do. That will make the time pass quickly.
Oh Gosh, I dont even like my own advice this time. I have been there and I know exactly what your going thru. The withdrawl pains are no fun at all.:
Is it possible to sneak a trip down before January? That will give you something to look forward to.
I do the same things, except we are not snowbirds. We are just waiting until we can get our home sold and move down permanently. My wife retires on June 4th when school is done and I am waiting until the house sells. The daily routine is to read TOTV and check out any other Villages related sites and think how nice it is going to be someday!! We have had about twenty showings in two months, but no offers. We have not been in our Villages home since last August, but may have to make a snowbird trip if we don't sell ours here soon.
STUCK IN MINNESOTA!!

Oh noooo............another that feels like we do.........We are back here on Staten Island, fighting the traffic and wishing we were in our golf cart driving all around TV.........Well, my husband complains every day, and I either shop or send emails to my Village friends. We are not waiting until November, going to sneak some time in in August.
they don't pump gas in Oregon either lololol

I feel your pain! And I don't have a solution. Wish I did. I am currently in exile for six months. As a Canadian, we are only permitted to stay 182 days in a calendar year in the USA. (A requirement of the US government).
When I leave TV for six months, the first month is always brutal. Like you, if I look at pictures of my TV life and home there, I just get more homesick.
In TV everything is so clean, so civilized, so flowery! There is no litter, no homeless people, no road kill, no people with multiple piercings. Returning to the real world is quite a wake-up call.
After a month goes by, I start to settle in a bit. I socialize with friends and family, go to the cottage, and try to think positively. Since I'm not a fan of really hot weather, I do appreciate the cooler weather in Canada.
When I find myself depresed and envious of frogs, I give myself a shake and vow to try to be happy every day because life flies by so quickly.

My husband is still working and he works for six months on the computer in Hadley with a trip about once a month north, and then we come back to Cincy. This time the emotional downturn was awful. We have so many THINGS we don't need and a big house and yard that is hard to take care of.
I miss my neighbors in Hadley, because my neighbors here are young and raising children and going off to work and they don't have time to socialize.
I really am down.

Wow! And we thought we were the only ones! We left late April/early May (for arrival of newest grand baby) and the weather in NJ was horrible! Cold and rainy and no sun!
We just got crazy cheap airfare thru Spirit, so we'll be back in TV in June, for about 10 days...can't wait! And we had already planned to be back for a short time in July. Just can't seem to stay away!
The idea was to buy in TV and "gradually" get the kids used to the fact that we might move to Fl permanently. Plus we sold the big house , then bought in TV AND an adult co-op here (NJ) which needed some repairs, so we will have to hold on to the co-op until the housing market improves.
I keep trying to get the kids to move to FL, but the job market is so poor. Oh well, I can dream!

Boy did you hit a sour spot. It is very hard and I only spent a month there and have been back since Jan 1. I still check out this board at work and read most of the new messages when I get home. I also listen to the oldies radio station WIND-FM out of Gainesville most evenings via the internet. I check out the web cam so many times during the day it is not funny. If the depression really gets bad I start looking at the pictures I took while I was there and start planning my next trip in December unless something happens at work and I can spend the entire winter in TV. Boy can I daydream.

I'm not even a full-fledged snow-bird yet (a fledgling I guess?), and we get to "visit" our house a week or two at a time. Each time I leave it just gets harder and harder. I look at the web cams, keep up with TOTV, look at the local news sites. By October I am expecting to retire, when I will spend more time there. Although the longer intervals may make it even harder to leave!
Like Shirlievee, I live in Staten Island and the contrast is startling to say the least. I can't wait.

I am continually taxing my brain conjuring up excuses why I have to get back down to the Villages. I have myself believing these are very important reasons to go back down. It really works for me. Lately Ive been wondering if I left the toaster oven plugged in. Lordy, I better get back down there and check that out!!!!:

I guess there are alot of us in the same boat. We are at least 10 years from moving permantly to TV, and only a 3 hour drive away. It is brutal! I get so depressed, it's worse than the empty nest syndrome ever thought of being!
We rent to snowbirds and can not wait until they leave so that to get back to visit and have a short stay in our villa. We only get to come a few times a year, but each time, we squeal with delight as we drive down Buena Vista, like it was our first time all over again..sigh...
we're coming Thursday..yay!!!!

Boy, can I relate to all these posts. This was our first winter in TV, bought in October, I retired in December and was at our house Jan.2. Came home to MA the beginning of April. New I loved it there, but didn't realize it until we got back up north. The weather has been horrible, today (Tuesday) is probably the 2nd or 3rd good day. We have decided after coming home that it's time to downsize up here and upsize down in TV. We have three acres of land and there were trees down from the rough winter that had to be cleared out. Just so much work to a house and property this size. Won't move to TV full time because of our children and grandkids. (at least right now) On line all the times looking at TV, searching out bigger houses, reading The Sun on line, emailing a friend down there. It helps. Belong to a golf league up here on Tuesday mornings. Very cold playing this morning, only about 45 when we teed off. Keeping busy helps, but we have decided to come back for a couple of months in July/August. Then back down here in Novemberfor the winter (going home for Christmas) THAT'S WHAT KEEPS ME GOING !!!!!

Boy that web cam isn't looking too good today. Looks like it's raining really hard. It's needed, but tough looking at. Especially since I'll be on a plane in a few hours headed there!

Know how you feel, there is no place like TV. We came down several weeks ago for Lifestyle Preview, bought a home in Hemingway, returning in June for the closing. Back in Myrtle Beach now, and it is dullsville!! We are busy packing, will be moving by summers end PERMANENTLY!! Can't get there soon enough.:crap2:
