Presently, I am trying to find a 55+ community that has an active summer sports program? Does anyone know of certain communities that have organized summer activities such as lawn bowling, pickle ball, group hiking, softball and others? Does TV have an active summer sports program? Do you know of any communities up North which have lots of active sports programs during the summer? Thanks in advance for any information or ideas that you can share.

True...
TV's sports programs are essentially year-round; not as many folks in the summertime as during high season, but, busy and widespread nonetheless.
Softball leagues run year-round, with new season every 3 months; pickleball every day; tennis/bocce/ etc all over the place.
You'll find that most 'vigorous' activities are scheduled in the morning to avoid the mid-day heat. Actually, the best time to exercise around here, IMHO, is the evenings, say after 6pm. But, that interferes with dinner, happy hour, and dancing.

Lotsa luck in baseball. I came dow here almost three years ago and did the try-out thing. They put me on the wrong team to begin with and when told them I was unable to run, the higher ups said they would put me on a lower classification team. That was the last I ever heard from them and that was 2007. Now I have little interest in participating as they only play morning and day games. (I am a night owl).
They have no lights at Knudson, Saddlebrook or Buffalo Ridge I understand.

I am sorry. At first I thought you were kidding about your question. Then I realized that you must not be familiar with TV. There are so many sports activities here during ALL months of the year. Have you ever been to TV? You just have to look at the Rec News that comes out in the newspaper on Thursday.
We have pickleball, softball, table tennis, tennis, billiards, clogging, line dancing, ball room dance, walking aerobics, shuffleboard, shufflepin, volleyball, water volleyball, lap swimming, zumba fitness fun, square dance, giggles and shakes, low impact aerobics, broadway dance, yoga, firm it up, walking away the pounds, shake it up, exercise bone builders, irish dance, Qigong, german american dance, prime time twirlers, cheerleading, bike groups, bocce, and then there are the off site activities: badmiton, basketball, hiking club, racquetball, rollerblading, sailing, walking trail, stickball, soccer, track and field, trap and skeet, fly fishers.
There is sooooooooo much to do here all year long. In the summer we just do it earlier in the morning.

Jeffey,
Sorry to be a little late in getting back to you. Thanks for your reply to my query. I have visited TV but not in the Summer and I need to do this. I am trying to learn where, including TV, there are organized and active Summer sports programs. Most of the Florida senior communities quiet down during the summer. I am trying to learn where all the senior sports lovers gather in the summer time. Perhaps TV is just as active during the Summer months as the rest of the year. At any rate, thanks again for taking the time to reply.
