According to the online newspaper, it appears that the Shooters World range will be located in the Trailwinds development at 466A. Although not mentioned by name that's my read on the article. Previous info indicated that it would be golf cart accessible. Will this area, including Lowe's be cart accessible?

Interesting...when Shooters World (if it's them) announced that they were opening a range in TV they said in Sumter County and golf cart accessible.

This is not villages property or villages developed, so I really doubt that there will be golf cart access. The developer has been very restrictive in the past about 'outside' golf cart access........

No, of course not. I'd just prefer to take my golf cart when and wherever possible.
It's not the end of the world, it's just a bit disappointing.

There are a myriad of golf cart repair places along 441. No golf cart access.

Probably won't be golf cart accessible given it's not TV property. Maybe not the worst though ... eg if someone brings a rifle to the range, maybe it's better to put it in the trunk of a car vs in the back of a cart? In any event, having this new state of the art shooting range will be a welcome addition to the community and I will be using it regularly.

Why do I have a vision of rifles being toted to the shooting range store strapped to the rear of their golf carts???
Makes me think twice before I speed by them going 20+mph!

You think twice because they are transporting their rifle, in a case as all shooters would, to a gun range? I'd be more concerned about driving in a round-a-bout.

I would bet not also. No cart access for sure off 466a; I really doubt TV is going to allow cart access from Sandhill Executive Golf Course; don't think there is any place for a mmp from Tamarind Grove to that location.

I think you are referring to the original project that The developer has proposed and was turned down by Wildwood. That plan did have golf cart access.
The original plot plans for the current project that were shown did not show anything that looked like golf cart access, there were NO connections to village property or village golf cart paths, and as stated previously, there is currently no golf cart access from or across 466a, Powell Rd or 462. The new section of 466a (west of 462) has a BIKE lane, that is specifically identified as a bike lane.

Since TV doesn't own this project or the land, there's no way they're helping out merchants that are competing with their rental property across the street in Pinellas Plaza. Unless TV was to buy the corner lot next to Trailwinds, then something might happen.

Maybe it is the shooter's world location. However, other tenants were named but not shooter's world. Just begs the question if this is their location (or not).

There is another commercial development being done at the corner of 441 and Fennell. That is the corner by the Lady Lake Government office and near the post office. I was told the Shooter's World is coming to that location. There's some documentation out there in the past also! There is no way that Trailwinds will be golf cart accessible since The Villages developer has nothing to do with it.

Agree with this thought by BTK.....Nothing that has been made public at any of the Wildwood Planning Board or Town Council meetings to date has indicated that a shooting range will be included in this 466A Trailwinds development.
However, at the other end of 466A, in the other new development being put in, there HAS been mention in builder/business owner documents and plans submitted to the Lady Lake Council & Planning Board of intentions to include an indoor shooting range in their facility - but nothing on the scale of what Shooter's World will be building.
My guess, with what Shooter's World owners have said so far (i.e., Sumter County, golf cart accessible), is that it will be part of the development on Rt. 44 & Morse Blvd - the new Lake Deaton Plaza site with Publix & Citizens First in so far. That would meet both of the criteria seen in the press so far. With ground supposedly breaking by early Jan., it won't be long before the actual site is revealed. And, I might add....not a moment too soon!! :)

I don't know about that location, but on 441/27 south of there across from the Columbia Parcar Shop is where this business wants to move. Here is a news story from last June 20th in The Villages online news:
Big crowd shows up to hear proposal for indoor gun range
BY META MINTON JUNE 20, 2016
A big crowd showed up Monday night for a conceptual presentation of a proposed indoor gun range on U.S. Hwy. 27/441.
The facility would be built on a 12-acre parcel located just north of the Lady Lake Realty Site, north of Griffin View Drive and east of U.S. Hwy. 27/441, near the Orange Barn. The 24,150-square-foot building would include a 20-lane tactical and bull’s eye indoor gun range. It would also include a gun shop and educational area.
Basics Range and Gun LLC would operate the gun range and has the property under contract. The company already operates a gun range in Orange Park...

THE VILLAGES
- For the third year in a row, The Villages is the fastest growing community in the United States.
- The Villages is made up of affluent, conservative, and active retirees. There are also several towns in the area we would serve easily by building on 441.
- The Villages currently has a shooting club with 2,000 members but no place to shoot. They currently have to travel to enjoy a shooting range.
- We have very limited competition.
- We have an excellent location approximately one third mile south of 466 (major corridor to the villages) on 441.
Our current range is growing and prospering. Our wholesome, family-oriented business plan fits here and will fit in The Villages. We built our range and we developed and built the buildings in which the range is situated. Our prices are much lower than our competition because we saved money building it ourselves (we are contractors) and can pass that savings back to our members. We are only one of two ranges in the state, that we know of, which manufacture their own ammunition and our only goal was to beat big box stores regular ammo prices.
We allow our law enforcement agencies to use our range at cost and some agencies for free. We also teach women and children for free and we do many other things at no cost or limited cost which we feel benefits our community...we help.
Our business plans worked here and will work on a greater scale at The Villages.
For more information, Contact Franklin at info@basicsrangeandgun.com or call 904-962-3909...OR, just stop by. See you at the range

I have been told by Shooter's World personnel that Shooter's World's contract with TV reserves the right to announce their new store to TV. Which is why Shooter's World has not made a public announcement. Thus, the new store is most likely on TV property. The site you refer to on 466a is not, I suspect there is more than one range planned. :MOJE_whot:

The developer has been very restrictive in the past about 'outside' golf cart access........Agreed. There's no way our Developer will agree to easy access to the retail stores that will be located in the new Wildwood-owned development that would compete with all his own shopping centers.
I don't think he should make it easy for a competitor developer to compete with his own retail developments. I know I wouldn't.

The Eustis Gun Club is the best around and much more affordable.
Eustis Gun Club, Inc. - Home (http://www.eustisgunclub.com/)
I went to the Eustis Gun Club range as a guest in July of 2012, myself and two members to fire pistols. We had one of those pistol berms to ourselves. We pretty much did as we wanted since no one else was shooting, a little limited on distance, I think it was 25 yards. Then we went to the 100 yard range and watched some rifle shooters. Nice range, everyone was friendly, one person even let my shoot his AR style 22 rifle and I ended up buying one similar.
I didn't join for a couple of reasons. I think to join it would of cost about $200 the first year and then about $175 every year after that, which I didn't think I would probably go more than 2 or 3 times a year. It's also not like it right here on 466A, it was a good 40 minute drive each way. Lastly, the entrance road was close to 1/2 mile long dirt road. This was the summer and the road was muddy as hell, I would have to wash my car everytime I went to this place. I would think with 1500 members each paying $175 they could afford to pave that road. Maybe they have since then, I don't know. That's what I thought in 2012 and for now, I can't wait for one of these two new places to open here in TV.
