I'm buying a 2017 Yamaha Drive2 PTV. Looks like sand bottle is the one thing I am missing...

1. Enclosure (not one of the hardsided ones).
2. Lights and turn signals (get a beeper attached so you'll know when you've left them on).
3. Rear view mirror (one of those wide multi-angled ones so you can see 180* behind you).
4. Locking ignition, not the standard (for the nefarious ones among us).
5. Speedometer if it goes over 20 mph (keep the speed at 20)
6. Propane heater if you drive it in Jan-Mar (what? it's not that cold).
7. Tow rope if you buy electric. (for sure).
8. Sand bottle (it's not a urinal).

and by all means, have Liquid Lights put as many LED's on it as possible (so the old folks can see you and not run over you).

Lots of lights so cars will see you! Most important is a very comfortable seat.

We're moving to our house in TV soon and just ordered our 2017 Yamaha gas model. Looks like we got everything on the lists (including side lights and comfortable seats) except for the propane heater. That one scares me a bit. I think if it got that cold, we'd leave it in the garage and take the car! We also got seat belts. I'm not sure if the sand bottle comes with instructions (with most of my golfing having been done in Michigan, I had to ask what the heck those even were) but hopefully some kindly souls at the golf course will explain how to use it and show me where to fill it. Counting down the days!

Thanks for all the advice. Basically everything is standard on the new Drive 2 except the sand bottle, so I added that when I ordered. I'm from the north so no heater for me either. Its 20 degrees where I am now and I am still in shorts so if I am cold I'll close the enclosure.

Can't do seat belts, just doesn't seem right in my world though I understand the give and take.

Just an FYI, my understanding is that the frame of the golf cart is not strong enough for a 3 point seat belt to actually make a difference as the anchor point is not strong. If it makes someone feel safer than it might be worth the extra money for that person, but functionally the extra cost isn't worth it IMHO. The main thing is to at least have lap belts to help reduce the likelihood of ejection. Oh, and I would highly recommend getting retractable seat belts versus non-retractable.

The two buyers didn't mention if you play golf, you won't need a sand bottle if you're not playing golf, they are used to fill your divots on the golf course. However, if you decide to sell your cart down the road it may be helpful, but they aren't that expensive.

The winter here is so short that a heater isn't really needed if you use your enclosure and wear a jacket. If it's that bad, drive your car, it has a radio and a heater. It's that cold why would you even want to be doing activities in your cart.

The Villages are extremely friendly..... but trust me on this, if you put a couple of these pink loofahs on your golf cart you will make a lot of extremely good friends very quickly.

I think the villages should include them in the welcome bag.

I got excellent same-day service from Leo's Golf Cart Screens. Call 446-9835. It was only 20 bucks as I recall. And as Leo told me, it does keep the bugs out of your teeth(!).

Default 2017 Gas Yamaha exhaust smell inside cart
I have a 30 day old new cart bought for Mom and Dad. Now that it is cooler and the sides are down they keep having exhaust smell inside. I took it back to the Sumter Landing TV shop. They said it was repaired. Their note stated "Glass fibers inside the exhaust came loose and wasn't catching carbon. Reattached and no more fumes are being released". Well it is worst now. Any advice because this making Mom sick in her stomach and Dad very sad and me very mad.

We have an Ez Go Electric from the Advantage Carts and it is wonderful, about a year now. Whenever you see a gas pump, there is a message there for you.

Yep, it is common folks. Consider this: In order to burn one pint, about one pound of fuel, it takes 14 pounds of air. So 15 pounds of exhaust products are going somewhere for sure. If you do not believe this, then go to a good library and get a book on Chemistry of Combustion. See it for yourself.

We have an Ez Go Electric from the Advantage Carts and it is wonderful, about a year now. Whenever you see a gas pump, there is a message there for you.

Stick with your gas cart choice. My wife has an electric and she loves it. I have a new 2017 gas cart and would nothing else. Sorry if the above mentioned person has a "gas" problem but I haven't even had a hint of such. I get over 200 miles a tank and never have to remember to plug it in nor do I worry about carrying a towing strap. Stick with gas. (But then I also recognize that we still have a choice in America).

We had a propane in cart heater. Used it once in 6 years.

Coleman stopped selling them - they could tip over and burn cart occupants.

Also needed are high storage shelves either by front windshield and/or off roof behind seat.

And lockable glove compartments.

We love our 2017 Yamaha Gas Cart.

How could I forget. Seats, nice, comfortable seats. When I bought my Yamaha at LSL in 2011 the only upgrade was Ultimate Seats and they had just one style. Now they have six models and a competitor, a local one from Ocala at that, El Tigre offers a similar seat for less money. My Ultimate Seats were $1500 option on a new cart, I think TV Yamaha is selling the El Tigre seats for about $1200 and they look nice. I would recommend getting the center armrest, it's nice when you have one hand (left) on the wheel and the right arms has somewhere to sort hold onto to.

My cart with Ultimate Seats, also I highly recommend the larger side mirrors, make sure the top edge of the mirror is not higher than mine, otherwise you'll have a blind spot when turning. Also, I have the black painted roof, done by TV Yamaha for $300, and the SS Wheels are not expensive, $125 for 4 wheels. I also recently got rid of the floor mat that was like a heavy duty door mate in the photo, (it holds onto dirt) I replaced with the Rhino Rubber Mat $60 at TV Yamaha. Gorilla Floor mats are only 4mm thick, Rhino is 8mm. I still have the original 6-pack cooler, I noticed now they have a 12-pack cooler, I may to to switch later on. If you're from Maryland, don't forget your Orioles and Ravens decals.

Alternative to a heater - ask for "Lava Buns" for Christmas. You microwave the insert for about four minutes, slip it into a cover and the warm seat will last for at least two hours to get you thru 9 holes of golf in surprising warmth with no danger of a tipped over heater ruining a golf cart window.

Rear shelf for jackets and hats
Ball washer and club cleaner
Air Breeze air blower (great when it is hot and raining and enclosure is down)
Large cooler
Sun Visors
larger forward/reverse shifter
Liquid lights
fog lights
Most important are more comfortable seats

Can someone show me what the gold cart screen looks like?

It looks just like a plain rectangular house window screen. It locks in to the flaps that hold the windshield closed.

I did go with the Rhino Mat (you are right about the mat, it looked like it would collect dirt) and El Tigre seats. I looked at the larger cooler but it doesn't come in all black. Do you use the cooler?

I'm more Colts than Ravens but I don't discriminate :)))

Nice cart.

I use the cooler everytime I go to the golf course. 4 or more hours you'll need some drinks and I prefer real ice instead of those cool packs. Of course real ice is going to melt, so that's why I prefer the coolers. If you bring a separate cooler and put it in the basket, it's a little harder to get to and takes away from storage space.

I was a Colts fan for 25 years until 1983, if you're from Indiana then I would expect you would be a Colts fan, but being from Maryland there is no way I can support a team that picked up and moved to another state. I wouldn't care except they should of left the name and colors like Cleveland did, I'm 100% Ravens fan now. I was at the first game in 1996 Ravens/Raiders.

In my opinion seat belts are a must. Most injuries occur when thrown from cart. 😎

Maybe I missed it in previous posts, but the one thing I would certainly advise to have...is a strong interior light(s) that you can turn on & off.

My cart has an AM/FM disc player, but what I find myself using the most is the strong directionally adjustable spot lights...that are attached to the bottom of the music unit.

With the darkness of winter, they are indispensable in finding dropped keys or just wanting to read something quickly.

I realize that there are a plethora of flashlight apps for smart phones, but they are not nearly as easily used and/or as bright...as the two lights inside my cart. :shrug:

In addition to everything already mentioned I would add:

- Storage space is important, overhead storage shelf helps. Also, a mesh grocery holder that can be attached into the golf bag straps comes in handy.

- Comfortable seats a must, but if you are a tall person like myself be aware the comfortable seats take away some leg and head room.

- Put a small Fenix E01 or E05 LED flashlight on your keychain for night use.

- Keep a cable lock in your sweater basket and run it through the steering wheel and around the roof frame when parking in public places to avoid cart theft.

- Gas carts only for me as I like to drive a lot and never want to worry about a battery charge. Unlike electric, it is rare to see a gas cart being rescued. The exhaust smell never bothers me. The only reason I have a gas cart is that they don't make a diesel.

Most importantly, never use any gas other than the ethanol free gas sold at the Villages Golf Cart stores. It costs a little more but will save you both money and aggravation in the long run. If you must use gas with ethanol, be sure to add a high quality fuel stabilizer with every fill up.

I have 2 carts, both gas and I have never smelled any gas fumes inside when the sides are down. Never. I would take it back. Something is definitely wrong with it.

issue with hard enclosure? I have trouble with my current "roll up" one being able to do it myself

also I do prefer battery cart, I would LOVE to have the automatic watering system
