Has anyone used The Villages Relocation Service in the past year? If so, what do you have to say regarding their service, results, choice of realtor in your city, etc. ?

Hi,

We used them - excellent service, good realtor recommendations, great moving experience.

I was really asking about the selection process of realtors. What type of followup did they have during the home selling process? What compensation does The Villages receive as a result of their recommendation?

I used the Relocation Service last July and found they were excellent. Generally, they have contracts with the three major Realtors in your area. They are contacted and asked to make an appointment with you for an interview. Relocation Service does not make the selection of who you list your home with; that's up to you. If you have a preferred Realtor they can also be put on your list.

When you have made your selection and signed the contract Relocation Services begins their follow up which is extensive. In my case they wanted a report, either verbal or by email, every week as to what action was occurring. Did they do an open house, were there any showings, how's the pricing compared to comparables, etc. I not only talked with my agent at least once a week, I also did with Relocation Services.

The same process occurs when you start looking at moving companies. Relocation Services makes three recommendations and you decide which one. Then they begin the same follow up procedure.

The Villages Relocation Services does not cost you anything. The contract with the Realtor gives them a percentage of the agent's commission and the same goes for the van lines who pay a percentage of the cost. They are all very competitive because they want this repeat business.

I found the whole process almost flawless and would highly recommend them.

Come on down!

What great information! We will be using their service and as soon as our home sells here in Kansas City, we will be down to buy/build a home in The Villages.

we used the relocation service....nice people, very helpful

they recommended two real estate companies initially, we interviewed both and made our selection...we were not sorry....they did a good job and our home sold in 3 weeks

we elected to use PODS for our upcoming move....not much relocation service can do with that....overall our experience was good and we would recommend that you use them

How was it using the PODs? What size PODs did you use and for how many rooms?

Not sure we understand what you mean. Should we not be looking at preowned homes? Are the preowned homes now going up in price?

CP,

I'm not sure what she means either. And with no reference to back up her claims, I would exercise some degree of skepticism. My new neighbors sold their CYV in a few weeks. I think it is best to investigate both pre-owned and new and make your own decision wjat works best. There are a few threads on why some of us feel one way or the other. They would be worth reading (IMHO)

I think it would be a GOOD time to be looking at pre-owned homes. The last time I looked, there were something like 495 homes listed thru TV. Add in homes listed by realtors and FSBO's and there are probably 700(?) or so for sale. It might be a bit of a buyers market.

I absolutely agree Kate and BobKat! :eclipsee_gold_cup:
I have done alot of research and I think it is an excellent time to buy in TV and I have seen many beautiful homes at a very reasonable price. :agree:

That is why it is killing me that I havnt sold yet, or I would buy one tomorrow lol!! :cryin2:

We have just used the service but have not had our preview visit yet. They had two realtor's contact us to list our current home in KY. The second one did not come at the appointed time and sent a quick email message to TV and they were on it and she came ASAP. I think the folks at TV are very helpful.

We are currently using the relo services and they found two top notch realtors for us to choose from. We think we have now sold our home and will be down to TV in June to buy something. I haven't got the bids from the movers yet but I like the idea that if any problems arose, relo would support us. Also, we may be building a new home and the rental and storage help will be very valuable.

Sorry if this has been asked previously - but what are their expectations if you use this service about when you would then follow up with a purchase - either new or pre-owned.

We are in central KY - any other people here that are using this service from KY and what has been your experience?

I know they highly recommend Arthur Martin's Moving Labor for loading/unloading rental trucks and PODS. I know I do I used them many times. :crap2:

Does anyone have contact info for Arthur Martin's Moving Labor. I'm thinking of using a POD to relocate to TV.

KT,

Not from KY - but lots of folks on this forum are. There is no pressure to follow up with an immediate purchase. I don't know if there is a set timeframe, so it may be best to touch base with relo (also, policies change, so would not want to give you stale information.

The person in TV relo that we worked with is Karen Madsen. You just call the main Number and ask for relo. She is very helpful and knowledgeable.

Good luck.
