When Andrew Jackson was running for office some people didnt like him and he was labeled a jackass. He was a democrat so there you have it. Now we know what democrats are. Or as told the party became known as democrat.

Ah, is someone looking for attention? How cute. Now go to bed and let the grownups talk.

Actually the OP is correct. Jackson's opponents referred to him as being as stubborn and ill mannered as a jackass and associated the mascot with Jackson and hence the Democratic Party he created. the party itself liked the donkey as a symbol of the common man and adopted it into their agenda and the press took it from there utilizing the donkey for Democrats and the elephant for Republicans.

Thanks for the information OP

So...it's the stubborn and stupid (donkey) "commoners" against the overwhelmingly powerful (elephant) "businessmen"?
