Obama and the democrats know that increasing taxes on high income earners and businesses are not going to cover their new "national health care" folly and other social "distribution of wealth" plans. They will never even balance the budget unless they can find clever ways to rob the taxpayer and have those counted with the fat, dumb and lazy thank them. Sheep.

Congress and the Obama administration are creative with new ways to plunder the public coffers and Americans without calling their raids income tax increases. The new green house gas tax through "cap and trade" has slipped past a confused, dazed and oblivious public. Wait until they realize the pass on costs that will come right out of their pocket. They will wonder how that happened and echo Obama and the libs in blaming George Bush. It was slipped right under their nose after they got their $250 rebate. It amazes me how people sell their souls and votes for the price of new cell phone and unwittingly give back to the tax collector in chief five times that much in cap and trade pass on assessments. Sheep.

Pay attention to the interest in a new "national sales tax" being hatched by your representatives and the Obama administration.

Why is anyone surprised ? The beat goes on and will continue !

In one week we have this dicussion and Frank legislating to insure that those under indictment can get funds from the government (read ACORN) !

And you are right, somehow, someway during those 3 times a week meetings that are spent on 100% politics there will come a way to blame Bush.

And those who love him just keep listening to the pretty words and ignoring what he is doing !

What are your comments regarding a National Sales Tax?
Because of the apathy in America combined with the malaise about actually demanding our representatives in Washington (:1rotfl::1rotfl:.....sorry!) bills of this sort will go unchallenged and the representatives (:1rotfl:) know it.

Hopefully it's just one more nail in their coffin. At some point the public will wake up and see we are headed to a socialism model that will fail. The sooner the better. Perhaps it will help the uninformed vote with more intelligence in 2010.

In a very short time. Time will tell it all. My hardest part of all of this is that it truly is out of the hands of the average American citizen. All we can do it appears is watch. Pray, as I believe in Prayer, that we will not give our total America away. So many other countries own us now. We have been sold out. I will say this, as Americans we still need to be Americans and Pull together. The election is over.

I'm not sure what you mean? Would you consider VAT as a "fair" tax, or an unfair "regressive" tax?

As far as the concept of a "fair" tax, the only fair one I can think of is the one you have to pay (but I don't).;)

Not without a concurrent elimination of the income tax. The odds of that happening are much too long to bet.

The only way the Democrats could sell a VAT is with not only a concurrent reduction in income taxes for those making less than $_____ per year, but also a cash rebate of $______ per year for those making less than $________ per year. ((you can fill in the blanks any way you want)) That way the Democratic Party could get the primary Democratic constituency to believe they will (in the end) not only pay less in taxes, they may actually get even more money from the government as a direct payment at the expense of those nasty "rich folk."

So, in the end, tax attorneys and CPAs will find themselves with more clients than ever.....as the tax laws get more confusing than ever.

Interesting question. What happens when the wealthy runs out of money? Well, I have never worked for a poor man.
No wealthy men=no jobs= no taxes for the tills. Chaos leads us down the road to ruin. Every empire in all history eventually ceases to exist.
Now that I put myself in such a great mood.....Oh well...Time to go to bed.
