The link below is a pretty good analysis of the North Korean situation.

This particular part is what alarms me a lot...

"Proliferation fears have also increased as a result of the North's test, analysts said.

"The proliferation part of this is more worrisome than being hit by a North Korean nuclear weapon," Albright said, noting the North will likely have no qualms about selling its technology."

The fact that this technology could be sold is quite scary. I read a book by David Kaplan a few years ago about the gassing of the Tokyo subway in 1995.

In that book, the extemist group that did this vile act wanted and were searching for nuclear weapons instead of sarin. They were so close and if they only had another million or so they could have purchased it....I cannot imagine the buyers out there WITH MONEY looking for this technology if they dont already have it.

And the sanctions currently in place seem to work so well, that now that he has laughed in our face and lit off a nuke, launched several rockets to laugh even louder at us and has now said the peace agreement is no longer in effect for them...just exactly what new paper rattling do we think is going to bother the N. Koreans? The Iranians? They know they are dealing with politicians...they know they can take us to the brink and beyond without too much to worry about. They have seen the beating that pro active politicians have taken for Iraq....they know our populist POTUS will not do very much UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE!!!

Diplomacy sure has made this work so well.

Personally, I don't think North Korea is the problem. As with most situations that lead to brinksmanship, to understand it best - follow the money!

As far as money is concerned, North Korea doesn't have any, especially to be able to afford the research, development, testing, evaluation (RDTE) and subsequent manufacture of anything more complex than a lawn mower. The people are woefully under-nutritioned, electric power to the populace fluctuates with the wind, and the national infrastructure is on par with Uganda and Haiti. So, who is paying for all of the missile/nuclear RDTE and providing the logistic support for it?

So, who is funding this folly? When that is determined, the solutions become for obvious.

"As far as money is concerned, North Korea doesn't have any.."

But there are/is terrorist group(s) who do and they are not looking for the capability to launch. They simply have to get some device here...they consider suicide to be a fine ending !

So....the concern is North Korea's investors and customers, because without them, North Korea goes back to being another 3rd world backwater with an attitude.
