We've been told that folks can't link to Villages sites through Talk of The Villages. What happens when you click here?

Why, it comes right back to your smiling face, that's what.
I see the same page that I clicked on. It appears to be a new instance of the page.

Jan it opens a new window and this web site. To get the link to work you have to copy and past it into the URL line. I did notice on Lyle Gant's web site that a couple of links he has are blocked by TV. Not sure why they allow some links and not others.

Simple. If it competes with TV, they censor it!

I get a new window with the resident's survey results! I thought it was weird when everyone kept saying that the link didn't work for them. It worked right away for me, even on the original posting.

When I'm in Firefox it opens a new tab with this page. If I'm using Internet Explorer it opens a new window with this page. I have to do copy the link and actually paste it into the URL line for it to work.

Obviously your browser is broken.:a040:

That's what a number of people have said. I personally don't believe they are that petty. We aren't competition to them. In fact dozens and dozens of people have said they moved to the Villages as a result of the information they got here on Talk of The Villages.
If some action was taken to block our access, I believe it was decided at a much lower level. I'll bet the top administrators don't know anything about it and would be ****ed if they knew. It's petty.
Talk Host,
They wouldn't let you place an ad for TOTV in the Daily Sun, why does this surprize you.

The site that you had us testing is a District site...not a Villages site. I can not imagine either The Villages nor The District wanting someone to leave their site.
A new browser opens for me....opens the distrcit site but then circles immediatly back around to the TOTV thread I was in....
Has anyone tried linking a non Villages or District website to test? I am sure we all have several we can share.
I will try a very non-partial wesbite...not affliated with TOTV, TV's or District....to my my knowledge anyway.

So I'm the only one that gets it to open? Maybe because I don't live in TV yet? It works for me exactly like the abc.com link works. And no, I don't think it is because my browser is broken!

Comes back to the same post, TH can you comment on the responses so far??....GN
If any of you use Firefox as your browser, there is a setting that will allow you to block sending referrer information, i.e. to stop sites you visit from seeing where you come from, follow these steps:
1.In the address bar of your Firefox browser type: about:config and hit Enter.
2.In the Filter input field type: network.http.sendRefererHeader
3.Double click on the preference name.
4.Change the value from 2 to 0 and hit OK.
0 means don’t send any referrer information, 1 means send only on clicks and 2 means send on clicks and image requests.
Now when you click on the ling that TalkHost provided, it works properly and sends you to the target site.
I have not yet found a setting for this in Internet Explorer.

Stay tuned!!!!!
I noticed today that links made to the districtgov site are working again. The
links are to the recreational news letter explaining the district govs view of
the Internal Revenue Service audit of the Village Center Community Development
District’s (VCCDD) Series 2003A and 2003B Recreational Revenue Bonds.
I wonder why the links from Talk of The Villages to districtgov work now?

Be careful if you do this. I found that I couldn't use the villages.net golf tee time system by changing the setting.
