...the author of the "speech" cited in the opening message of this thread will never be elected to high office or even appointed to a responsible position in our foreign service.

What would be accomplished by giving such a speech? Basically, it says "here, here's a stick in your eye. Don't talk to us about not supporting Islam. We've bled and spent plenty."

What the author says is true, of course. But would our national purposes be served by going over to the Middle East and making such a speech? Anyone who reads it can conclude the answer to that question. There's a way to perform foreign policy that has a chance to further our national objectives, as well as other approaches that hold less promise in that regard. This proposed "speech" isn't that way...by a long shot!

Foreign Policy? I'll give you Foreign Policy. I noticed that the word "Jihad" is not spoken very much or not at all on this forum. Why?
Here is a video to "balance" the bull**** that is happening over there today.

Every act of terrorism shown in the video you linked was true, of course. Some of the perpetrators have been caught and punished; many others have not.

But the terrorists who performed those heinous acts are not the people who our President is trying to convince with his speeches and actions in the Middle East. He's targeting the "normal" people. Those that are working, raising families, and yes, going to the mosque quite often. Those people, like the majority of Americans living the same types of lives, aren't the ones supporting jihad. Like many, many Americans, they're not supporting or encouraging military solutions, violent solutions, to every problem they encounter with people different from themselves.

Are many Muslims supportive of the furtherance of their religion--even at the expense of Christianity? Yes (from all the studies I've read anyway). But if the expansion of their religion worldwide continues at the pace currently being achieved, they'll accomplish that before the next millennium without a shot being fired or an IED detonated. Sometime in those decades, the non-Muslim world better learn to get along with them without violent jihads. Their religion will be the majority--by quite a margin.

That's not going to be my problem. But it almost certainly will be the issue for my great grandchildren. Might as well start now, I think.

non Muslims need to figure how to get along....or something akin to that.
We the people in this country today have a majority. The majority has not and continues to not matter or influence the direction of this country. Many changes being proposed and granted by substantially minority/special interest groups because of the apathy of the silent majority.

My point is based on our behavior, having a majority garners not much of anything.

Maybe a majority of Muslims (or anybody else for that matter) would bring more to their presence than we the people do here in the USA!!!!

However, I suspect, the direction and presence of any other majority here or any where else in the world, is dictated by the few in control (like our gang in Washington) while the majority (just like us) just follow like sheep.

The so called advantage we have is we get to elect the leaders and representatives (:1rotfl:) and THEN just follow like sheep:bowdown:

Well, I don't really care about what religion the majority of the world will practice now or in the future. Christians came to this continent to escape the state run religion. Period. Of our 300,000,000 citizens, how many are christians? 200,000,000? 150,000,000? Now how many are muslims? 2 million? How many are ther of the jewish faith? I bet there are more jews then muslims.
As long as the USA keeps the morals and standards of the Judea-Christian values that established this great country...we will survive. Our only threat is going to be when and if we turn into a socialism government.
