Dreamers

Walking in circles, I’m wearing a track
That leads me from nowhere to nowhere and back.
Tethered to loneliness, wondering why,
Watching and waiting while life passes by.

But deep in my dreams from twilight ‘til dawn,
I’m running and free, my cares nearly gone.
Yes, deep in my dreams and through the long night,
I’m racing the moon and chasing delight.

I’ve heard through the grapevine today is the day
When I will be rescued and taken away
From this place to someplace where broken hearts mend
And I will find love in the face of a friend.

For dreamers have dreamed, the work has begun,
A labor of love with more to be done,
I find myself now with a future that’s bright,
Where I’ll race the sun and chase the daylight.

Yes, I’m here to tell you that dreams do come true
For I’m Chasing Daylight with you!

Chasing Daylight Animal Shelter (https://chasingdaylight.org/content/c/home)

My lawyer friend Lori seems to get around. Last week, she flew down to Galveston, Texas to rescue some pooches in a kill shelter. Drove them up to her place in Minneapolis and environs and seems to have got places for all of the dogs. She had to keep one, of course, and it shares her house with a pig, goat, and her menagerie of animals. Knew Lori when she was a year behind me at the U of MN Law School. She was Class of 1990. She was fighting for animal rights back then too. I was Class of 1989. My law school live-in girlfriend Jennifer V., was also Class of 1990. As was the first Muslim elected to the U.S. Congress-- Representative Keith Ellison.
