"More than 750 people have been murdered in Chicago in 2016, the police said, a 58 percent increase over last year and the highest total since 1997. There have been more than 3,500 shootings in the city this year."

Black people.

Black people did it. Just like they do EVERY place they live. Want to know the "bad" part of town, the violent and dangerous part of town...it's ALWAYS where the blacks live.

When will we learn...it's THEM...they're NOT like us.

These strict gun laws you speak of are about as effective keeping illegal guns out of Chicago as our southern border is keeping illegal people out. Way to many of both.

If the minorities weren't killing each other with guns, they'd be hacking at each other with machete's like they do back in Africa where genocide is occurring as I type.

It's them...they're not us.

Think of it this way . This may be an opportunity to increase Tourism in Chicago and thereby bring in more revenue for the City Government .
A certain segment of the tourist market seeks adventure and even a bit of danger in their travel experiences . For example folks travel to Alaska and also to Churchill , Manitoba to get up close to Polar Bears which can provide some dangerous thrills .

Bus tours thru the neighborhoods of Chicago where the shootings take place each day could appeal to the same type of thrill seekers . And it is much easier to get to Chicago than it is to Alaska or the remote parts of Manitoba .

More fees could be charged for weekend and nighttime tours when the possibility of witnessing an actual shooting is greatly increased .

Stadium seating along MLK Blvd. Like watching Mardi Gras from a balcony. Dinner theater? It'll give you something to do between the action. They could even throw out something of value and watch them fight over it like a pack of dogs. Like THEY do in the stores/malls during black friday or christmas sales. Maybe throw out a white guy scheduled for execution...a running man...trying to survive...if he makes it out alive, he's free. Buses would have to be armored and fire proof...still pretty dangerous. It's always better to hold the high ground.

We should get SOMETHING for all the expense we're FORCED to pay for their upkeep.

Who cares about those people?

Obamma, no.
Jessie Jackass, no.
Rev Al, no.
Will Smith, no.
Chitown, no.
Me, no.

Nobody cares about them, not even the ones doing the shooting.

These are all excellent marketing concepts and the City of Chicago could sure use the revenue .

Now in addition to the above they should add some form of betting . There are all sorts of possibilities with respect to what types of bets could be placed . Endless actions to place a bet on .
Time of the first shooting of the weekend . The final totals for shot , killed and injured .
Average age of the victims , most shot by gang affiliation et al .

I have a solution to the problem; some of those being shot are just innocent bystanders (that day anyways):

Take one of the run down vacant concrete and masonry buildings on the south side and invite the public to use it to settle disputes with courage and honor. Run ads on local TV; the slogan could be "Two men walk in, One man walks out". No spectators allowed, this is for safety after all (not entertainment). Have the press report any shooting done outside of the building as a "shooting by a coward".

It will need to be supervised (keep in line, wait your turn!) and a reservation system might be needed for holiday weekends (usually very busy time for shootings in Chicago), but I am thinking the police can handle the staffing (they could also cross off the dead as suspects in ongoing cases). The place could be sponsored by an ammo company or a gun manufactured ("Remington Thunder Dome" or "Glock Coliseum"). The guys who sign up as organ donors (the police could have the forms on hand) would be provided with a free cremation if they lost.

I believe the real key to success is changing the way these shootings are portrayed in the press; all of these clowns want respect, none of them want to be known as cowards.

They're animals living in packs... They have NO courage nor honor. They're animals with no concept of what we know as ethics. Look how they live. No jobs and the places they live are pig sty's. Violent. Lazy and helpless, not a good combination. Especially to fill an important quota.

Yes , however there should be an opportunity to monetize what is going to continue anyway and thereby the City could make some money from the ongoing carnage .

And from the looks of it, ChiTown really needs the money. And I am not referring to our resident Chicago escapee.

Trump suggests Chicago could solve crime problem 'in a week' if cops got tougher - Chicago Tribune (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-trump-chicago-police-crime-met-20160823-story.html)

We will see what Donald Trump does that will affect Chicago in any way. Of course, he is Federal and most of this is a City, County and State problem. Chicago, Cook County and Illinois. Especially though the local communities.

President Obama has not been able to do all that much to stop the violence in Chicago.

When and how did Obie attempt to do anything about it. His former right hand man banned Chick-Fil-A. I'm sure that helped immensely.

Friends could we get back to the truly constructive discussion on how to best turn this situation in Chicago into a revenue producing
opportunity for the city government .
For example Pay-Per-View cable would seem to have a place in this new plan to turn lemons into cash .
Also " collector card sets " similar to baseball cards would seem to be another . You know " Collect all the members of each gang for the year 2017 .
A TV Game Show where contestants must match the " Street Name " of a gang thug with the name on his birth certificate .
The possibilities are limitless . In fact if done right this opportunity could get a dedicated channel 24/7 on cable .

I'm starting to think your "participation" angle is the way to go. Like hunting...you buy a tag and you go into the inner city to nab one. Like the Predator movies...you pick one out and you have to get it.

Lets kill two birds with one stone...we can use warrants to choose the "quarry". Choose from a list of the wanted...and go get it. The tougher they are, the higher up they are, the harder you have to work.

Like a spy thriller...you have to get in, past the "guards" and take them out. And then get away.

It's win-win we eliminate a dangerous criminal...you get the excitement of a lifetime. Sell package deals...four friends go in together...like those first person shooters...you all work together for the common objective.

We need a catchy name...

I have one...but the ladies will LOSE IT if I dare type it.

You mean a game similar to those " hunting preserves " that are stocked with animals . The animals are prevented from wandering away from the preserve by fencing . It`s an interesting concept .

I still would like to hear more development of the idea of a game which allows viewers to watch the natives hunting down and " harvesting " one another .

Perhaps your concept of a system of guests coming in to " hunt " thugs could be structured as a special " season " say for 2 weeks every 6 months and televised for 8 to 10 hours each day . Sort of similar to a cable marathon event only on Pay Per vIew .
Unless of course we get the dedicated Cable Network .

You know the more I think about the upside of this type of sports programming there is the possibility of the concept evolving into a new type of National Sports League . Could eventually become as big as the NFL .

Thugs from a particular city would be organized as teams and teams from other cities say LA would travel to Chicago for an 8 hour " Hunt " on Sundays during the " season ".

The team that scores the highest body count wins . Teams earn points -- something like this : 3 for a kill , 2 for a serious injury and 1 for a flesh wound requiring treatment .

How about opening up more Popeyes and fight clubs? Would that help?
