Last night a fairly large crowd was dancing at Spanish Springs. The band (Second Slice, which was very good) stopped after a rousing 50-60s medley and said they had to pause for a minute due to sound issues. Then they looked confused, a guy ran up from the sound booth, and they announced they had to shut down for the night due to cold. It was 7:30ish and 46F.

As we headed home we drove by Lake Sumter square, and they too were shut down tight at 8pm.

I assume it's a Villages Entertainment call. Does anyone know what the cutoff temp is?

The cut off has been 47.

Clearly, different rules than Troy, Rochester, or Grand Rapids.

That was the part that was weird, there was still a healthy crowd of folks drinking and dancing. But it was below 47F...

I believe 47 degrees is the threshold you're shivering so bad your beer has danced out of the cup!

I know sometimes they "call" and cancel entertainment in the squares due to weather and cold as well. Can't speak to what happened last night. Maybe the temps do have something to do with the sound features.

Below 47 is a problem for the entertainers & their equipment.

When the forecast is for temps below 47 the bands don't usually even start. I remember last January we had about 5 nights in a row that there was no music at any of the squares. I guess since it was NYE they decided to play until the temps dropped.
