Do you believe our intelligence agencies?
It depends. The leaders of your Intel Agencies are political appointments and I do not believe or trust them. Do I believe our capabilities? Yes. I know quite a bit of what we are capable of doing, and some of the (still) classified programs going on. Do I believe these characters that are appointed and have no clue or training in Intelligence work? NEVER. They have always and always will say whatever the POTUS wants to hear or what they feel he wants to hear.

Do some research on the difference between espionage and cyber hacking into another country's system.
It will answer your question.

Who knows ???
"Senior Russian government officials celebrated Donald Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton as a geopolitical win for the Kremlin, it was reported last night.
The intercepted communications between Russian officials, some of whom had knowledge of the alleged cyber warfare campaign, showed the Russians congratulating themselves on the outcome the Washington Post reported.
Unnamed US officials said the intelligence contributed to the assessment that Moscow was trying to help Mr Trump win."
Russian officials 'celebrated Donald Trump's victory as a geopolitical win for Moscow and congratulated themselves on the outcome' (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/01/06/russian-officials-celebrated-donald-trumps-victory-geopolitical/)
U.S. intercepts capture senior Russian officials celebrating Trump win - The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/us-intercepts-capture-senior-russian-officials-celebrating-trump-win/2017/01/05/d7099406-d355-11e6-9cb0-54ab630851e8_story.html?utm_term=.57172ead24c9)
""Clinton will surround us with nuclear missiles; Trump would recognise Crimea," a typical tabloid headline read on election day.
"We are very glad that relations will improve with Russia and stop the artificial Cold War which Washington and London try to push on the world," pro-Kremlin analyst Sergei Markov told the BBC.
"We're glad the new president will be Donald Trump who respects Vladimir Putin and recognises that Crimea is part of Russia," he said, referring to Mr Trump's comment that Russia's annexation of the peninsula could be 'looked at'.
So could this herald a thaw? Or is Russia planning to exploit the division and disarray caused by this result to pursue its own priorities, including in Syria?
There are growing hints that whilst Americans are reeling from their bitterly-fought election, Russian troops will launch a new push with Syrian government forces to take Aleppo.
That way, Russia would ensure that the new, "constructive dialogue" President Putin is calling for with Donald Trump, starts from a position of strength."

My problem has been and cipontinues to be how you and others on this board support a President Elect of the United States mocking, and it was mocking, the United State Intelligence community, and do it in front of the entire world. How can you people support that in anyway.
I never professes as you folks do always to know anything.
These issues that you people keep saying..give him a break, he hasn't taken fife yet....EVERYONE OF THESE ISSUES are a result of Trump tweets.
If he acted like an adult, and expressed his opinion AFTER hearing them face to face like a professional man, so many threads don't exist.
Defending him is my problem,....unlike you I never professed to Know Anything. You, obviously jumped immediately on the Trump wagon, and are apparently okay with him mocking these people.
Such blind, and obviously uninformed loyalty is rare, especially when given to such a person as Trump.
Of course you add the little shot...did you watch the hearings....not such an easy target, but that is the Trump manifesto...blame America first
I supply links because I do not profess to know all as you do, but again...it appears you might be as smart as Trump on all subjects.

I didn't even mention this bit, but you have a ready to go answer I am sure for him making INCIRRECT THREATS AND INFO.
By the way, anyone keeping score as these threats on tariffs will soon raise car prices up and up and up.
"President-elect Donald Trump continued his Twitter tirade against the auto industry on Thursday, slamming Toyota for investing in Mexico but appearing to misstate key details of the company’s operations.
Trump warned the Japanese carmaker over Twitter that it could face hefty fines for building a plant in Baja, Mexico, to sell the popular Corolla sedan to American consumers. But Trump’s tweet looks to be incorrect: Toyota’s factory in Baja assembles Tacoma trucks, according to the automaker. A new plant in Guanajuato, Mexico, will manufacture Corollas.
That factory broke ground in November, and production is expected to begin in 2019. The work is being shifted to the plant from a facility in Canada. In a statement Thursday, Toyota said that there is no change in employment and production in the United States as a result of the new operations.
Donald Trump just threatened Toyota — but it looks like he got the facts wrong - The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/01/05/donald-trump-threatens-toyota-but-it-looks-like-he-got-the-facts-wrong/?utm_term=.3989fa8fcd38)
Now I realize this is the media reporting facts, but I suppose we must wait for Trump facts.

If I can add one more thought...so many of you seem to want to speak to "stealing election", etc.
Nobody at anytime, from any source EVER said or implied that there was any vote tampering. That was made very clear in the hearings.
I do not know, again not as well informed as you, why they hacked, and the intelligence committee has not said anything definitively at all. As part of their job, they present many different scenarios when no definitive reason isknow.
Again, most of this talk and chatter does not exist if the President Elect had acted like an adult man, waited until brupiefed, then face to face express his disagreement if he had any after being briefed.

Dear Guest:
I am a man more sinned against than sinning (King Lear). This seems to be your creed. You make judgments of others based on the premise that you cannot be wrong. Well quite honestly when it comes to issues such as politics not all issues are as clear cut and dry as we would like them to be.
You reference Trump's mocking of our intelligence agencies. If you google Senator Patrick Moynihan will find he did so too. And when it came to the black population he too was in line with Trump's comments.
I readily agree I am not the smartest guy on the block but I do have an insouciant epistemic curiosity.
When it comes to politicians I trust none of them and believe them only after they have provided the results they promised. Hence I do not support Trump.
As to this particular issue again I do not support Trump. what I have said on every political thread that spoke to this issue and our intelligence community in general is that our intelligence agencies have failed when it came to WMD, 9/11, Benghazi, Arab Spring, ISIS. Clinton's personal server and a number of terrorist attacks within our borders. These agencies are bloated bureaucratic politicized creatures who have been failing our nation's interest. How, pray tell, does a tech who has been with NSA for only six months manages to vanish with this nations top secrets. he now sits in Russia feeding them what probably is the basis for their ability to hack this nation's top organizations.
Our intelligence agency deserve such ridicule. and to add insult to injury the last people to know of our intelligence fails our the people of this nation.

I not sure how we should handle the hacking, but I do hope that future administrations do a better job of preventing it.
If there Russians did indeed hack these e-mail accounts, where were our wonderful intelligent agencies when it was happening? Why did this administration not prevent it?
The primary job of the government is to protect it's citizens. This administration has evidently failed in that area.

Curious if you watched the hearings yesterday, or read about the testimony ?
They have, in fact, stopped attacks. This has been on going for years, and while you appear dismayed, I believe...and we never know everything...that we are on top of the game. Prevailing wisdom now is to simply attack our own country, and agencies, which I find offensive.
I do not live in a fantasy world and know USA does not equal perfect, but they have done a great job., and find no satisfaction in demeaning them.
There also, to your point, was discussion on how we react to these attacks and I think what I heard was a criticism of the current admin in reacting. That is a big issue.
I do not like to keep bringing up, but if our new President continues to praise Russia and Putin, and dismisses what he is told, it will be difficult to fight this threat at all.

If you supported Obama, you must have thought it was a joke. After all, name ANY president that has spent as much time on late night TV and comedy as Obama. Name someone that has made as many jokes in his speeches and mocked the other party. Name one president that has spent 8 years in office totally ignoring the other party and ostracizing everything they have done or said. Obama is the worst example of a president we have ever had when it comes to acting presidential. So, now you have Trump. He has not been sworn in yet, OK. If he is not presidential, he is following a poor example. Or, are you a racist and feel that because Obama is half-black that he is given a pass or excused from the proper behavior of the position?
You libtards really should get over your loss and get on with your life. Yes, Republicans do hold each other accountable instead of making excuses. The left ought to try that. Does it not make you wonder why all the black voters came out to vote for Obama and we have never had the black turnout equivalent in any other election? There's your racism. And there's the flaw on the left.
And typical of other libtards, you have to use the extreme. I did NOT say Russia was good. Show me where I said they were good. I did not say America was bad. Show me where I said that. Then, come back and kiss my...........liberal.

It only seems like praise to the left because the criticism of Obama is such that anything said about anyone else, sounds good. Of course, it does not help when the left continues to take what Trump says out of context and perverting his actual words. But, that is to be expected.
Putin is a thug that America has to deal with. How we deal with him will determine whether or not we have diplomatic disagreements with Russia or another Cold War. Obama needed a diversion from his complicity in Hillary's felony conduct, so he hyped up an image of an enemy to get people to watch his slight of hand trick. Can't wait to see what is revealed after he is out of office.

Yes there are many countries in the world that see us as the bad guys. Good guys and bad guys have a lot to do with culture and location. However if you are a baby boomer raised in the USA then of course you know who the good guys are.

When Trump left this morning, he was heading to the offices of Conde-Nast to meet with the likes of Traydon Carter and other writers. Carter is the one who wrote the article calling Trump's restaurant in Trump Tower the worst restaurant in NYC.
Carter's battles with Trump go back decades. He is the one who started the 'small hands' discussion about Trump.
The meeting with the intelligence community is scheduled to begin at 12:30pm at Trump Tower. One interesting side-note, James Clapper fired Trump side-kick Gen Flynn in 2014, could be a bit awkward.

The OP question "how should we handle Russian hacking"?
The easy answer is close down the DNC, it is obvious the DNC is unable to connect with enough voters to win many of the last contests in the election, and then they wont have to worry about Russians hacking at the DNC.

The hacking has been going on for years, and we ARE doing something about it. That's why we use encryption and change the key daily. Hillary refused to abide by the law and use the secure system properly and that is how our national secrets are leaked/hacked to our enemy. But, instead of blaming the violators of national security, the left wants to go to war with those taking advantage of our own corruption. Gen P. got his wrist slapped for his violation. Any of his men doing the same thing would be in Leavenworth right now. The same place they should have housed Hillary.
We hack other countries on a daily basis. Hacking is not new and has been going on since before the Internet has gone public. We use procedures to insure security, but they are only as good as those involved. In Hillary's case, not so good. The ONLY reason anyone cares about hacking now is because the left lost and they need an excuse to justify their devastation. Hacking had nothing to do with Hillary's loss, and the Intel community said as much.
On Jan 20th, the next president will be sworn in. The left has made it clear that they will not support him. Fine, he is not concerned. Obama didn't care and and made it quite obvious. Hopefully, Trump will not resort to Obama's tactics of whining about the opposing party because of their lack of support. It would be refreshing after 8 years of constant right bashing and whining by the crier-in-chief.

Who knows how Trump will act? That isn't the point, is it? He is the better of the two choices, and he is our next president. Live with it.
Thin skinned presidents started with Bill Clinton, but he grew up a bit and learned to work with congress. Obama then came in and started to immediately cry racism and bigotry and stomped his feet. Did he not tell the Republicans to sit in the back of the bus? Did he not tell the Latinos that the Republicans were their enemy? Obama has been whining for the last 8 years instead of attempting to work with the GOP. Obama has been a consistent whiner and Biden has been an idiot that has enabled Obama's childish behavior.

ICYMI: All of the senate committees investigating the Russia hacking are chaired by republicans, with a republican majority in each one. This investigation will take up a good part of Trump's first year in office.
If the committees decide that more sanctions against Russia are in order, and Trump vetoes it, that veto could presumably be overridden, probably not the way Trump wants to start his tenure.
After one hearing, the Senate Armed Services Committee, the verdict was unanimous and bi-partisan that Russia was guilty. The Senate Special Intelligence Committee will hold their hearing next week.
