At this time last year you could not go 5 minutes without a breaking news story about prices of gas.

That makes me wonder on who decides what topics are important. The war...naw wrong president. Price of fuel rising?...naw don't want to distract the people...Even here on this good forum...look what we are discussing..exactly what they want us to....Sheeples...wake-up!!!!:cus:

Define THEY.

We can discuss oil prices if you wish. The main stream media isn't discussing it but all my financial sites (and CNBC etc.) sure are. One thing to remember about the oil surge - It is still down over 50% from 11 months ago. Too early to tell if this surge is a rally in a bear market (my bet) or the beginning of another roll to $150!

My play if I were to dabble in commodities trading would be to leverage some $50 November puts. I think the price will approach this by then due to fundamentals.

Remember - just my opinion.

Sorry about where you live, but here the "mainstream media," i.e., the paper I work for and the TV news operations in my town, have regularly covered the issue including stories this week.

If by "ignoring" you mean you haven't seen the story you want to see, 12 times a day, in your face, then, yeah, we've been "ignoring" it.

Maybe actually reading a paper rather than letting Rush tell you what is and isn't there would work for you.

But I doubt it.

I hope that it is not in the spirit of this good forum to flame people. If you are talking to me....do you have some kind of camera that is watching my daily rituals? If you don't have something constructive to add to this thread then...well...

The whole point of my thread was really comparing how the press tries to paint a rosy picture when the administration of their choice is in office.
When President Bush took office we were in the Clinton recession and he never got any credit even though we pulled out of it and the country sustained positive growth for over 6 years and millions were added to payrolls.

Not according to the National Bureau of Economic Research.

I'm seeing all kinds of coverage on gas prices from that evil mainstream media. It's on the national news, business shows, well covered by our local TV and print media.

Not sure what the issue is here, or exactly how much attention it should get ....

I don't care what graphs or links you throw out there but the economy was tanking under Clinton and his policies and everybody was talking about how they would probably blame Mr. Bush when or if he won that election. After Bush got in and instituted his policies the economy came back strong.

Did anyone really think the low prices were here to stay? I never did - I think that is why no one is really shocked prices are going up as the economy improves a wee bit. I know everyone always badmouths Jimmy Carter, but if we had put on the damn sweater and limited our consumption 30 years ago, we would not be in this energy dependency situation. Hooray for golf cart transportation and hoping we get energy independent in the next 10 years.

And hopefully it will go higher to wake up we the silent majority......
there will be more heck for Obama to deal with when the oil rise above $100 per barrel on his watch.....and nobody to blame or holler inherited it!!!

Maybe he can just take over OPEC and show them how it is supposed to be done.

It will play havoc with an economy that got him elected and has yet to show any signs of improvement......except the stock market which he does not have his fingers in.

Anyway...if anybody is surprised by the resurrection of increasing oil prices....you have been distracted by all the wonderful things going on here at home.

But if you could get some reasonably priced November 50 calls, I think you'd be shopping for one of those Premier homes TV is trying to sell by Christmas.

Of course, if you told us about making all that money on oil puts and calls, we could all castigate you heartily for being part of the evil cabal of speculators that are driving the price of oil towards the sky.

My suggestion: don't worry about the criticism--take the money!
