On the way to and from the Orlando Airport from The Villages…..
Where do you stop for a bite to eat?
Ideas can be fast or slower and good or fantastic!
Or you can let us know where NOT to stop too.
thanks,
d

I'll be watching this with interest. We haven't found a good spot.

I can tell you, the rest stops in the middle of the lanes have the most DREADFUL fast food I have ever had.

It's an hour's drive. Do you really need a meal stop?
Why not wait until you get to the airport and eat there?

For a quick bite there is always the Turkey Lake rest stop. It has typical fast food like Nathan's Hot Dogs, some kind of fast food type burgers and fries, pizza that are all pretty much the same as you'd get in another of these stores chains.

The Turkey Lake rest area has an Italian restaurant that makes delicious pizza. The meat lovers is fantastic. Several others if you don't like Italian. It also has the best hand dryers in the state.

I say wait until you get there. When you go to MCO on the Beach Line ( hwy 528), you have MANY good choices if you go north on Semoran Blvd. (the airport is south). Either fast food restaurants or table service.

Try Bar Louis, 7015 S Semoran Blvd (about 3/4 mile north of airport entrance) on right.

Anytime I'm close to south or west Orlando I stop at Abuelo's few miles off the turnpike in Kissimmee, FL. I fine there food is consist in taste that I like in Tex-Mex.
Abuelo's Mexican Food Restaurant - Mexican Restaurant (http://www.abuelos.com/):mmmm:

If I want fast food I head for Culver's, the extra drive is worth it to me down highway 50 to Clermont for the tenderloin sandwich.:mmmm:

turnpike to 429 into Windermere. 535...the road in front has shopping...food...lots of great stores...and if you go on 535 it takes you into the back entrace of disney.

Take the turnpike and exit onto the 429, then first exit, easy on and off... there is a huge shopping area full of every resturant you could imagine. That is just about half way point from Orlando to the villages.

This would be a quick and easy way to many choices as you leave the airport.

We sometimes stop at Cheddars which is on Semoran Blvd (SR 436), less than 2 miles north of the airport. Reasonbly good food for a reasonable priced. (check out cheddars.com)

On a long flight, I get food at the airport I am leaving from (Subway if possible, or equal), and use it for a snack/meal during the flight. That way when I get to my destination, I am not starving. Depending on the airline, I may also get a soda before getting on the plane.

After eating continue north on Semoran Blvd to 408, go west to connect with the Turnpike north.

Within a mile of the airport entrance, on Semoran, you have Denny’s, Tony Roma’s, Sonny’s BBQ, Hooters, Chili’s, and many more. I would wait till you get in the terminal. The airport has many fast food places not any worse than the restaurants above.

We have never found this short trip worthy of a stop. It is only a max of 90 minutes depending on traffic. ???

Ditto!

All of the Cheddar's I've been to, have been remarkable in the value they provide...with great food and great prices.

Disney Springs!

Disney Springs is kind of far away from the airport, also I don't know if the restaurants will still be open at 1:30 am.

We go to Fridays on Semoran right near the airport.

That's a good idea if they stay open all night, and some Fridays do.
