In todays paper there is an article about the 'guest passes' and restriction of usage.
Is it thirty days on a pass, only once per year or thirty days - take a break - then thirty more?
Input, pls.

I think it's about those who don't play by the rules.

That article also had a phone number to call to get clarification of the new guest pass rules. Those answers may be more accurate than the "I think......." you will get here.

My read of that article was the more restrictive 30 days per year per guest pass DID NOT get Approved but penalty provisioins for owners who abuse the guest pass policy were approved.

I think the person who posted the question here cares about it. Seems to me that's why it was posted here.

I worked on the committee for the Guest ID issues. I will give you one example of what brought this about. It seems that some people opt to circumvent the system by selling and moving out of TV, say to Spruce Creek, to avoid the monthly ammenity fees, etc. year-round as snowbirds. They would then come down for their 3 to 6 month stay in FL. Using their out-of-state identification, they would then get a friend living in TV to get them a guest pass (renewable every 30 days) so that they could come in and play golf, swim, play shuffleboard, etc. This is not fair to those of us who foot the bill. The intent has never been to eliminate the guest program....just those who choose to abuse it, just like those who are penalized for abusing the tee time system. So yes, we do care, contrary to what another poster has said.

Hi Dilly,
There are always those who will work to circumvent the system. Thanks for your work to shut down one of these scams.
Kate
PS - for those who think scam is to harsh a word - keep in mind that the more people who do this with impunity, will result in even more not playing by the rules. None of us want our fees supporting those who do not contribute.

It's interesting to me that we should, and people do, care about abuse of the guest pass system, yet when there is discussion of golf cart control because of cart abuse, there is a huge outcry against it.
