We were down on a lifestyle visit in Jan. and loved every minute (even without golfing as my wife doesn't golf). We are now trying to justify the cost as I am now retired but we would only use it about 4 to 5 months a year. We live in Canada and are restricted to less than 6 months anyway.

My question is are there many snowbirds or is it mainly a full time resident community? We are renting next Jan. and Feb. and hope to investigate things more thoroughly, but was interested in the number of people who are in a similar situation.

I've heard in the past that it's about a 60/40 mix.
60 full time
40 seasonal
At least that's the way it's on my street.

Hi Gump .. welcome to a fellow Canuck

We are definitely in a similar situation .. we are also Canadian and limited to 182 days in a calendar year. We also don't golf .... yet, anyway! Mom2five is another TOTV member who is a Canadian in a similar situation.

We bought a Courtyard Villa in The Bubble two years ago. We choose to spend mid October to mid April in TV. And we spend summers in our Canadian home and at our lake cottage. No question, it is expensive to maintain more than one residence. If I had my druthers, I'd be full time in TV. However that is not possible and I feel blessed that we are able to spend six months in TV.

I've also heard that TV is approximately 60% full time and 40% seasonal residents. However the people who are full time often spend summer months travelling and visiting friends and family.

Buying a home in TV is the best decision we've ever made. We are just so happy in October when we head for The Bubble. We have made fabulous friends, and we definitely feel part of the TV community. Our neighbours are great. There is even a Canadian Club!

The Canadian dollar is strong right now, and prices in TV are low. There won't be a better time to purchase. I'll betcha if you buy a home in TV, you'll never regret it.

Please PM me if I can answer any questions for you.

Hello Gump1 - we are snowbirds and have been for seven years. We thought about buying but we have 2 homes and really don't want a third. Being a snowbird fits us. Jan/Feb and sometime Mar are our usual stay. Two to three months is enough as we usually get good weather at Lake of the Ozarks starting in March. Our kids and grandkids are still here in Missouri, so after two months we are ready to come home. There are about 15 families from our area who come down at the same time and we have a ball. Whichever way you go, buying or renting will be fun.:pepper2:
