Admin, I think you were a bit premature in closing the ref thread. For the most part, it was some friendly banter and occasional actual discussion. There didn't seem to be much of a personal nature until one poor poster felt he must get his $.02 included but evidently couldn't think of anything intelligent or even neutral to add, so he reverted to a time tested and approved DNC pejorative.

Most members who had or would post in such a thread are intelligent enough to view the comment for what it was, consider the source, and totally dismiss the post. No harm done.

Plus you stopped me from commenting to a previous poster that "Just Because You’re Paranoid That Doesn’t Mean They Aren’t Out to Get You." It fit in that thread. It sticks out here. :cus:

I started the thread and basically agree with your comments and have said many times that stupid post was the most used when someone had nothing to say...man, was I called names a lot :)

Anyway, the point of the thread was not about the various commentators on each network (I dont do a good job of making my point)...my point was that...
THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES took time to TWICE critique a particular network. THE PRESIDENT !

I dont watch much news coverage on tv and imagine that FOX covers the news with no bias..dont know...I also assume that their commentators are entertainers as on MSNBC, thus I am shocked that a PRESIDENT would take on one network because they dont agree with him.

To me, that is newsworthy !!!

the news or even the weather.....they have all become entertainers. although that is really a bit of a mis nomer. Since all any of them have to be able to do is be a good reader. I have read some where that the decline of news quality has in fact gone down with the advent of readers VS reporters (I don't remember where it was but it was long before the election).

Having worked with the newspaper industry for a good number of years...the one comment that I always remember made by the publisher of a very notable newspaper....the aim is to be first and if it factual or true....all the better!!!!

It's probably nothing new for a president not to care for a certain network(s), but it does seem unusual to go public with his feelings.

Oh you are right...I am sure that other Presidents of both parties had their likes and dislikes and behind the scenes had things to say, but I found it very very strange for a PRESIDENT to make these comments.

Agree with you on this one. I honestly don't see that is was anymore personal or inflamatory than some things I have read by dklassen in the past.
That's deal though when one of the administators is a major poster on political, nuff said.

I think I missed something, huh? I thought I had a real good post about Tony Snow...and then I come back and it is closed. If the moderator edited it could someone PM me to tell me what I missed?

Fox has no agenda???

Amazing.

Why do so many posting here watch Fox, obviously because it matches their conservative leanings.

Geez...you miss the entire point.

Yes Fox has those you mention and they lean right.
MSNBC does the same with the left....

No debate.

What sitting President ever publicly said what this President said about a particular network ???

PS: Especially after FIVE short months in office !

Agreed. It is a tricky situation for an Administrator to be in....

I have no problem reopening the post if you all want but I wasn't sure if it may get out of hand based on the last post which I found rather... well, I'm not even sure of the word... nor would I say it here.

I try and keep my comments here pointed to those in Washington or my specific disagreement with opposing political points of view or ideology.

Wonder how it would fly if given the correct topic I referred to a group of TOTV folks as typical angry (pick your race) man or woman? Think it would get reported?

I'm sure there are plenty of angry people of all color, sex, nationalities and political affiliation and I'm sure it is not typical because they are one or the other.

I didn't delete anything and I didn't call anyone out on it behind the scenes. I just closed the post.

It's not like I just shut down the only Chrysler dealership in town. Plenty more hard drive space on the server for more threads.

Why do so many posting here watch Fox, obviously because it matches their conservative leanings.I can only speak for myself. From 8-9 pm I flip-flop back and forth between Bill O and Keith O. The polls speak for themselves and everyone knows what the numbers reflect. However they don't speak for me. I see Keith O as a frightened man obsessed by his competition and, as such, he seems to destroy his own credibility by his -oh so repetitive and predictable- "worst person in the world". I mean EVERY night it's either Bill O, or Rush(tonite it was FOX News). His ratings reflect the audiences boredom with his rant. I can't believe the powerbrokers at MSNBC have not told him to add something novel to his act. I watch both but feel Bill O has a better program without the histrionics of Oberman (who decided he better diversify and do football commentary).

Have you watched Fox News on a consistant basis?

Do you have evidence of bias or is it that they just dont agree with you once in a while?

Perhaps 40% of the posters here lean conservative. That is consistant with the general voting population.

What is your real problem with Fox News. I'm curious. Please share?

I never understand why people always say how bias FOX is to the right. There are many Democrats not only as pundits, but who have their own show, on FOX. How many Republicans are on the alphabet networks??? Very few and those are usually RINO's. Why is it okay for all the other networks to lean way to the left, but because FOX allows Republicans to speak they are considdered way right.

ilk as Nancy Pelosi.....(paraphrasing what she told a reporter in an interview befor becoming SOH).....if it is from the opposition or anything they support, I am against it....

Once you know this it is easy to understand their position. One for one party, media amplifiers. Of the three choices...lead/follow/get out of the way....they simply follow....NO MATTER THE CONSEQUENCES!!!!! Of course this is my own opinion....right or wrong...to which I am entitled (at least for now!!).
A little tongue in cheek this morning.

If the problem were not so serious it would be comedic!!!!!!!!!!

I would suspect the reason is that they are too busy listening to the folks at MSNBC put down FOX so hence they never tune in. Either way it is their choice as is mine to not watch any of the networks anymore.
