Our best friends lost one of their small Italian greyhounds on the first hole at Ashley Meadow, Nancy Lopez last night. The dog is black and white and weighs about 6 pounds. There is a black leash attached to a grey reflective collar.
She broke free from the owner at 11:30 last night from the rear of their home on the first hole of Ashley Meadow.
The owners are heartbroken. Contact: Steve or Joan at:

Has anyone gone to that Markets of Marion? Sometimes dogs are for sale there. I hate thinking that...........

graciegirl...thanks for the suggestion.....I passed it on. The owners haven't given up hope. They have followed up on all the suggestions so many kind Villagers have offered and they continue to actively search everyday.

I suggested in the other thread about Gianna, that the flyers be dropped off at all veterinarians offices and also offer a generous reward.
If someone picked up one of my Yorkies, I would assume that they may want to sell it, so I offer a reward printed on their tags.
There are people that just look for dogs to pick up for resale. I live in south Florida, and some people stopped their car, got out, and picked up a dog from inside a fenced yard. The construction crew next door saw it happen.
I would offer a reward too good to refuse. If someone hasn't returned Gianna yet, maybe money will help.

This is a good reminder to have pets microchipped. I'm praying that Gianna is found soon. A few years ago I found a small dog running and dragging her leash. After catching the dog I walked up and down the street for a long time waiting for the owner to show up. No one came and dog did not have tags. What to do?? I took her home and placed an ad in the local paper and called the humane society. Her owner called and was irate. It seems that the dog would run for a considerable distance and return to her owner. The owner told me to mind my own business when I suggested that this was a dangeroud practice. Idiots abound.......:cus:
I am in no way implying that the owner of Gianna is at fault. I have a small dog and the other day he
saw a bird in the yard and took off after it. I was running after him screaming for him to stop before he got to the road. He can be unpredictable and a lot faster than I am.

Duffysmom-
You are so right- We have had a number of dogs and believe in the "chips". We had Gianna, just over a week, and she was scheduled for spaying, a chip, etc this week. Gianna, although 2 years old had neither.
We thought we were knowledgeable and very careful but a lesson learned. Whether golfclubs, animals or us -whether out walking, jogging etc.--be identfiable- have a return address on yourself, animal or other items.

Prayer - Thanks kathie for your offer of help. If anyone has friends North of 42 between 301 & 441 I would be happy to drop off flyers to them with the reward info on it. This has generated some interest and buzz at the beauty parlor and Vets.

We received a call at 6:46 am that the little "whippet" was seen around Cuthbert by the Woodbury Postal Station. The caller said the little black dog was "very skittish" I did not get their name as they said they were at the postal station and just leaving town.
We immediately called Village Watch and Dudley dispatched a patrol.
We jumped into our car and to the Woodbury Postal Station. Nothing! We were driving up Cuthbert asking people along the way if they saw the little black dog. They saw nothing. Just then a gray Chrysler Minivan with 4 passengers pulled alongside and said "She's around the corner" and confirmed it was a little black dog with a collar.
We slowly drove around the street- nothing- when all of a sudden we saw her going up to a door. My wife jumped out of the car, calling "Gianna, Gianna". The little girl was as if in a daze. She stopped and came towards the car and as she had done at home, cowered and my wife picked her up. " Thank you God" were the words my wife expressed with so much relief. She is skinny, shaking and very frightened but- GIANNA IS HOME.
Joan & I Thank all who have prayed and helped us in this stressful time.

Thrilling News........ It is impossible to believe that she was running all these many days. Where was her leash? As we drive around I've been on full scan looking for her. Karen at RDO is to be commended for her dedication and her commitment to our pets. Thanks Karen

Yes Kudos to Karen. Gianna was found with her collar still on and her leash missing. Unbelievable, but she was found across the street from Karen's house. To this reporter, The power of faith is unquestionable. When I first spoke to Karen she said, "Don't worry. We will find her". We Did!
Is that coincidence?

How wonderful to start the day with this fantastic news!!! I am so happy for you, I am sure Gianna is happy too!!!
All our prayers have been answered, an angel must have guided her to Karen's house...amazing!!
Jeanne
P.S. I just thought of something....a few years ago a friend of mine bought me little blinking lights that attach to the collar so you can see where they are at night. I was always afraid to let them out after dark, eventho it was fenced in hehe, since I live up here in the wild kingdom lol..."lions, and tigers and bears oh my"!!! They are made especially for dogs collars, I will look and see if I still have the package they came in...so I can give you the name.
