In his inaugural address on Friday, Donald Trump said that ordinary people would be heard under his administration.
“The forgotten men and women of our country will be forgotten no longer,” he proclaimed. “Everyone is listening to you now.”
But his actions already contradict his words.
As Blue Virginia reported on Monday, the White House comments line, which is still advertised on the White House’s website, has been shut down.
ThinkProgress repeatedly called the number and received the same message each time: “Thank you for calling the White House comments line. The comment line is currently closed.” Immigrant rights groups noticed the comment line’s shutdown Friday, just after Trump took the oath of office. Kica Matos, spokesperson for the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM), told ThinkProgress in a statement, “Last time I checked we were still a democracy. We the people have a right to be heard, and government officials have an obligation to hear our views. It is unprecedented and deeply disturbing. for any administration to turn off the switchboard to the American public.”
Now, citizens are instead urged to go to the White House web form or Facebook messenger to send a message to the president. This would seem to indicate that the 13 percent of American adults who do not use the Internet have, just days into Trump’s presidency, been forgotten.
The administration’s online citizen communication has also caused some embarrassment for the new administration. The number one petition on the White House’s We the People petition site, with more than 264,000 signatures, is a call for the immediate release of Donald Trump’s tax returns — something Trump claimed earlier this month was only of concern to reporters:what:

There may be a plausible explanation? If there is anything I believe about Donald Trump its that he is hell bent on getting in front of the liberal press with his version of the truth. So it seems to me counter-productive for him to shut down this avenue of communication, and if he did then there must have been a solid reason.
the liberal media and Hollywood are going to make his life miserable for two reasons 1) he won't kowtow to them and hence they lose control of the news which is their bread and butter and 2) so they have to create news as journalist and attention as Hollywood actors or they don't eat.
P.S. I view most of the liberal media and most of Hollywood people in disdain

Yes this is awful and thanks for your concern!
Possibly he does not considered the guys from "FIRM", and the "cell phone challenged" as forgotten people...
I used to call over to the country club when I wanted to speak with Obamma, they would yell to let him know he had a call and he would jump in the golf cart and race over to talk with me. Not a big fan of leaving messages, someone could delete it before he listened.

Trump's tax returns are no one's business. No one has the right to see them but the gov. So, he should just tell all those libtards to kiss his @ss and mind their own business. Releasing them now will not change the fact that he is PRESIDENT.

The White House comments line, 202-456-1111, is no longer working and apparently hasn’t been operational for weeks. The line is normally staffed by volunteers.
Callers to the line hear a recorded message: “The comment line is currently closed, but your comment is important to the president.”
The recording urges callers to send comments online at The White House | whitehouse.gov (http://www.whitehouse.gov), or by Facebook messenger. The White House press office didn’t respond to a request for comment about why the phone line was shut down.
On Monday, Twitter users were first to report that both had been disabled. Callers are instead asked to use a form on the White House website, or contact the administration via Facebook Messenger.
The message doesn’t clarify whether callers should use the official White House Facebook page or President Trump’s Facebook page to do so — but then again, that distinction doesn’t really matter: Neither of the two pages currently offers any messaging capabilities. Trying to find the White House or the President directly from within Facebook’s Messenger app also proved unsuccessful.

Correct, it was shut down while Obama was still in office. In fact, weeks before he left, NOT by Trump as some liberal websites are touting. As I said, more liberal lies just trying to stir the pot with nothing in it!!
