I find it difficult to locate good contractors in the Villages off the internet, there seems little info except if one fills out info for the job and then gets a quote. The best seems word of mouth or this forum.

We had one of the big landscape firms do our outdoor lighting and frankly it has been unsatisfactory. Currently the lights come on randomly during the day and two do not work. Could anyone recommend a reputable firm or bonded individual they have used? From this forum I had the recommendation of Action irrigation for irrigation service and Chip was fabulous. Hope I can get a recommendation for outdoor lighting as good. Thx much

Are the malfunctioning lights you mentioned low-voltage landscape lights?

They probably did not setup the controller correctly, or your have something shading the photocell of the controller. As for the lights that do not come on these are typically due to loose or incorrect connections. I have found the insulation piercing type connections to be less reliable, than a crimped connection, but when I did mine, I used soldered connections with fully sealed coverings. Takes longer, but this is completely weatherproof. Hope this helps, Send me a PM if you want to discuss further.

Yes, I think the problem is the timer/photcell. The photocell is not blocked but they still come on during the day. The intent is they turn on at dusk then time out 4 hrs later

I agree with the connections being the clamp type. I just wanted to have a good contractor make the repairs (1) it because I do not want to mess with it and (2) when we are up north when we have problem I would have a go to person for lights like I have for other areas

Tomterrif,
Tried to send to a PM (Private Message) and was not able to. Send me one with your email or phone number to discuss repairs if you have not found a contractor. VT

Lenhart Electric (352) 748-5818
Pike Electric (352) 753-1008

Both do landscape/low voltage lighting. Incidentally, in Florida, installation of landscape lighting requires being licensed. If your landscape company installs lighting, it would be a good idea to make sure they are licensed for that type of work.
