I want to replace my gas stove with electric. (Please don't try and change my mind :) )

You need a plumber to cap the gas line and an electrician to install a 40/50 amp 240 volt receptacle for the oven. Call the electrician first to see if your electric service panel will handle this.

Agree with RickeyD. I did this and it was very easy. After having gas capped, appliance store took my old stove and brought in the replacement and hooked it up! Was not used to gas and hated it and the cleaning of the racks!

Becky thank you, I'm so glad someone agrees with me! I have tried to get used to the gas, but I don't like it. Do you happen to have a referral for an electrician?

So funny -- just last week DH and I were discussing whether to replace our ELECTRIC stove with GAS. And I am planning to call TECO to discuss feasibility. I just can't get used to cooking on electric. LOL

I have used Lenhart's, ECI, R&A, and Galaxy, and would recommend in that order. I agree with the above comments. With some additional comments. You will need to move your stove to install the new electric receptacle. Be careful that the corrugated line is not damaged. If possible, I would have the gas line capped as close to the supply line as possible. There were other threads about problems with the use of corrugated lines in TV, so I would eliminate as much as possible when you are doing this project. Plan on a few hundred dollars for the new electrical service to the stove, I had similar work done for a hot tub (240 volt/50 amp with new circuit breaker), and the cost was around $400 - $500.
