Why do so many people mispronounce this simple 2 syllable word?
I mean educated, intelligent people repeatedly call it Lake SUMPNER! Not only is there no P in Lake Sumter, there is no N, either!
I don't get it.

Ok, we all need to speak identically. Which accent shall we adopt. I personally like the " Kings " English but would then have to P. in the loo.

Maybe it is because they are mere mortals and mere mortals make mistakes; not like perfectly perfect Villagers.chilout

Who cares, we know what they mean. We all have some word(s) we don't say correctly. Like nuclear, some people have trouble with words like Linoleum, really who cares.

Here's what I don't understand. You live here, you bought a home here, you have probably looked at maps of here, you should know some of the history of here, but yet you post on this board comments like this:
"I read about the Boil Water on the radio this morning @ 10am. Said to boil from 441 to Morris Rd."
I did a search and pulled this post from 7 years ago, so it wouldn't embarrass anyone. Do you see what I see. Here's another from two years ago:
I have the solution, stop the cut through from non residence on Morris Blvd, we all know that will never happen because Morris doesn't want to maintain this road.
I can see people mistaking Sumpner for Sumter, but it is the name of the county Lake Sumter Landing is located and possibly your home, but not knowing the developers last name, that's lame.

We, the people of The Crescent City, demand that the rest of the world to quit calling our fair city N'Awlins or New Or Leens. It is pronounced New Awlins.
