I am North at the moment and I just got a call from a friend in Hadley who said that she (also on vacation away from TV) had received a call (out of the blue) from Owens Corning saying they needed to replace her roof. She said that she had seen other roofs being replaced in Hadley. Her house is one year old just like ours.

Anyone know anything about this?

We recently had our home inspected because we were approaching the end of our one year warranty. The inspector had told us that a couple of roofs in our area had to be replaced because of problems with the shingles. (We are on Ainsworth near Havana). Might also want to check with the warranty group to see if they have any info to help you.

They have replaced a lot of roofs in Tall Trees too, in the Oak Bend Patios Villas, & our homes are almost 5 years old. Everyone is hurrying to have theirs roofs inspected, before the 5 years is up, because after that we have to pay for the labor, which is around $3,000.00. We have not heard back from them yet, & it's been a couple of months. We gave them a call, & they said someone will call us that day, we still have not heard from them.

I started this thread a year ago. As far as I know that issue was resolved by Owens Corning admitting that they sold a bad batch of roof shingles and stepping up to replace them.

They are replacing part or whole roofs in Mallory Square; some are not defective.
Mine has been inspected and waiting to hear the follow up. They are defective shingles supplied by Owens Corning and
are covered by warranty for five years from your closing date. If you have questions, call the Warranty office:

If there are bad shingles from five years ago thru newly constructed homes it is more than a bad batch. Sounds more like a bad design.

(had a new shingle roof put on our Norcal home 4 years and six months ago - looking thru old pics and papers to see what manufacturer furnished the shingles)
