Is painting my driveway a good idea? Does it still look good after several years? Any recommendations on who to hire?

Did ours 2 yrs ago, still looks super, no fading. Used sharkskin paint so no slipping. Great job, good to work with.

We used driveways by Jay, going on 2+ years, and looks great, even had the driveway expanded, and he was able to match the original design. I completely agree with previous comments, and will add, do not use any form of house paint, make sure the contractor adds 'shark grip' or you may end up with a skating rink when it is wet. Ours gets a sealer coating every 5 to 7 years. If the driveway is new, you need to wait a minimum of 4 weeks before coating.
Try searching this site, there have been many threads on this subject with lots of contractor info.

Our preowned had a texture drive. Has a brick look to it, a repair and new coating came to $699. It's nice looking but it's long term upkeep

Don't pay in advance. Make sure you get all necessary approvals (like Architectural Review Committee) before you have toe work done. Personally, I prefer texture to painting.

Good points, I forgot that there are different requirements for coating driveways depending on the CDD you live in. As for maintenance, from what I have read, any form of coating (pavers, concrete, paint, stain, etc.) all require maintenance, some more than others, so if you want zero future maintenance, stay with bare concrete, and do an occasional pressure wash, otherwise, ask about future maintenance costs.

We just had ours done last week on a ten year old driveway whose concrete looked pitted. The driveway looks fabulous now. Decorative Concrete, Cliff.
The guys were fast, not disruptive at all, very professional.

We had two of our driveways painted by Home Service, Inc., Mt. Dora. I worked with Jasper Reid 352-267-7814. The first driveway was in 2010 and the second was in 2012. Love both jobs and they still look great all these years later. If you're in a new home you will want to wait until after your first anniversary inspection. If you don't wait that will void the concrete warranty.

If you are the "do it yourself" type, you can buy a gallon of basic concrete stain at Home Depot for about $27. You will need about 4 gallons. Water based, opaque latex stain is very easy to roll on, but make sure you get the right color mixed for your property. Nothing fancy, but it is VERY EASY to do and looks great.Covers all kinds of marks and stains in established concrete driveways, and is very easy to "touch up" when needed.

For us Cliff Rider Decorative Concrete was hard to work with. We had pictures of a design that we wanted on our driveway and because it wasn't one of his designs he was argumentative about the painting the design. In the end he painted the design but there was some over spray on the driveway and my lamp post in front of the house. I repainted the lamp post and had him back to fix the over spray on the driveway.
